Characteristics
The E-flite Twin Timber BNF Basic SAFE Select 1.6m wingspan RC model is powered by a pair of AC motors with an AC dual controller. The model has aerobatic capabilities, flaps and optional short takeoff and landing slots. For 3S - 4S LiPol batteries.
The E-flite Twin Timber carries over all the popular features from previous Timber models, such as shock-absorbing chassis with oversized Tundra-style wheels, optional use of leading edge slots , functional flaps and LED lighting with landing, navigation and flashing lights. The Twin Timber 1.6m also has a large top cover for quick and easy battery changes. Additionally, it features the strongest undercarriage ever installed on a Timber model, improving durability and STOL capability when flying off rough terrain! The efficient two AC motors are compatible with 3S and 4S LiPol batteries and are connected to the exclusive 40A Spektrum™ Avian™ Dual Smart Dual Controller , which can additionally provide a range of real-time power system telemetry data with both SMART and regular batteries, via compatible receivers ( including the AR637TA installed in the BNF® Basic version) and a Spektrum transmitter equipped with Spektrum AirWare™.
With the Spektrum™ Avian™ Dual Smart controller, differential thrust and thrust reverse can be used for unique aerobatic and other capabilities – along with AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. The airframe is made of durable light and strong EPO material and finished in fresh and modern coloring. For low speed flying and for STOL function, you can mount optional slats on the leading edge and you can also take off from the water with optional floats (sold separately EFL5261). The BNF® Basic version is equipped with an AR637TA receiver that provides full range telemetry data in real time, including battery voltage, ESC temperature and more, and has the benefits of AS3X® and optional SAFE® Select technology .
A larger two-piece wing adds stability, and oversized rudders with bi-directional flaps offer the control and capability of the Timber X models, including optional full-span aileron functionality. Combination connectors make it easy to mount and dismount the wing, and there's even a custom-designed clip in the fuselage that holds the wing coupling so you don't lose it when the wing is detached. Best of all, wing mounted engines make it almost impossible to break the supports or damage the engine and mounts if you ever tip over! With the model, you can perform sporty and even aggressive aerobatics, and at the same time it is a model for a wide range of pilots!

Bind-N-Fly version
Already own a Spektrum™ RC transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft are already ready to fly, thanks to a ready model aircraft with a Spektrum receiver. A motor with a regulator, servos and a Spektrum 2.4 GHz receiver are installed. Therefore, just pair the receiver in the model with your compatible transmitter, complete the final assembly and fly (transmitter, battery and charger sold separately).
Exclusive technology
Twin Timber 1.6 m is equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes you look like you're flying in a much larger aircraft. Optional use of SAFE Select offers pitch and roll limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off with the flip of a switch! And if you don't want to activate the SAFE Select functions, pair the receiver in the normal way and only the AS3X 3-axis stabilization will be active.
SMART technology
The Twin Timber 1.6m RC model airplane is equipped with a Spektrum Avian dual controller, which can provide a variety of real-time telemetry data, such as motor speed, current, battery voltage. With compatible Spektrum RC transmitters equipped with Spektrum AirWare™ (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX14 , iX20 and others), you can see this data on the transmitter display. The dual controller supports differential thrust, which improves flight characteristics, taxiing on the ground and allows for special flight maneuvers.
Versatile possibilities of use
Thick grass, gravel, dirt roads - even local lakes and ponds - you can fly these and many other surfaces that most models of this size cannot handle. The shock-absorbing chassis is the strongest Timber model yet, and features large Tundra-style wheels that absorb bumps on rough surfaces. An optional float kit (sold separately) includes a pair of rudders for superior control on the water. Whatever gear you choose to fly, the landing gear or floats are easy to install and can be changed in minutes.
STOL - short takeoff and landing (Short Takeoff and Landing)
The wing has a larger span and area than the Timber X 1.2m and Turbo 1.5m models plus special trailing arcs and can be fitted with the included optional wing leading edge slots for even slower flight and STOL performance. These features, along with a lightweight design, oversized flaps and high-performance AC drive, allow it to take off or land at a distance of just a few meters.
Two AC motors, more options
The 40A Spektrum™ Avian™ Dual Smart AC controller, together with specially tuned motors, provide great thrust with a 3S LiPo battery or offer even higher speed and unlimited vertical power with a 4S LiPol battery with no setup required. Additionally, wing-mounted engines make it impossible to break counter-rotating propellers or damage engines and nacelles.
Strong and durable
The lightweight yet durable composite-reinforced and fully molded EPO airframe features a wealth of detail. Therefore, the model is extremely light, while high structural rigidity and strength are guaranteed. The wing is equipped with reliable digital servos with metal gears. No glue is needed to assemble the RC model, as assembly is done with just a few screws, so the Twin Timber is ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The two-part wing makes it easy to transport and store.
LED model lighting
The model looks alive in flight, thanks to the realistic LED landing, navigation and strobe lights, which are already fully installed in the model and powered by the flight battery.
Note: The AR637TA receiver does not include a barometric sensor and a connector for connecting an additional receiver.
The electronics of the receiver is equipped with electronic stabilization AS3X , which offers the highest level of accuracy and stabilization in flight. It is a completely new flight experience thanks to the latest technology that can guide the model straight as if on a line. Based on information from the 3-axis gyroscope, the microprocessor constantly maintains the position of the aircraft using the ailerons, rudder and elevator in the same orientation until you give an instruction via the transmitter to change the position of the model.
If you are not a very experienced pilot or want to ensure a greater degree of safety, or to get to know the model safely first, you can activate the optional SAFE Select technology, which is integrated in the receiver. No programming is required, simply pair the receiver with or without SAFE, and if SAFE is selected, set the switch to turn the function on and off according to the instructions. The SAFE function secures the flight envelope by limiting the extreme flight limits of yaw and pitch. Electronic stability is also active, when the control levers of the transmitter are returned to neutral, the model is leveled into horizontal flight.
We recommend to buy
Assembly of the model is relatively quick thanks to the ready-made model parts with installed electronics. To finish, we recommend adding a 6+ channel RC transmitter Spektrum DSMX®/DSM2® and a driving LiPol battery 2200-5000 mAh 3S 11.1V or 4S 14.8V with an IC3/EC3 connector and a suitable LiPol charger.

To power the model, we recommend a driving LiPol battery with 3 or 4 cells (11.1 V, 14.8 V).

- For longer flights LiPo battery Spektrum Smart LiPo 11.1V 3200mAh 30C IC3.

If you decide to use modern Smart LiPo batteries in RC models of airplanes or helicopters, or to charge your batteries from other manufacturers, then we recommend the following chargers:

Accessories for normal operation
For the normal operation of flying RC models, you need suitable adhesives, a set of tools and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our assortment, we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) will certainly come in handy for assembly, and for cutting a Modelcraft cutting knife with an A6 pad.
For quick repair of model airplanes, we recommend the fast-curing 4-minute Epoxy glue. From our offer, we recommend Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71g
Protective covers for accumulators
Protective packaging is intended to limit the risk associated with the transport and charging of accumulators. LiPo accumulators, while maintaining small dimensions and low weight, can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity. The LiPo battery is particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore needs to be thoroughly protected.
