The Decathlon is widely known as one of the best aerobatic training aircraft. Its iconic appearance dates back to the Aeronca Champ and Citabria, but has been enhanced with inverted fuel and oil systems and a near-symmetrical wing that allows it to perform challenging inverted maneuvers with ease. The E-flite® Decathlon RJG 1.2 m model is a replica of the Decathlon flown by American pilot RJ Gritter (RJG), who began competing in aerobatics at the age of 16 at national and international competitions. RJ has also designed a new color scheme for his Decathlon for the 2024 airshow season and has also been involved in the development of this unique model which is capable of calm sport flying along with more aggressive aerobatic flying! It is equipped with landing and navigation LED lights and a number of model details. The model is ideal for pilots with less experience in aerobatics who want to improve their piloting and then switch to a full-blooded aerobatic model. The BNF Basic version is also equipped with an AR631 receiver to provide real-time telemetry data along with AS3X and SAFE Select technologies.

Exclusive technology
Decathlon RJG is equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes you look like you're flying in a much larger aircraft. Optional use of SAFE Select offers pitch and roll limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off with the flip of a switch! And if you don't want to activate the SAFE Select functions, pair the receiver in the normal way and only the AS3X 3-axis stabilization will be active.
SMART technology
The Decathlon RJG 1.2m is equipped with the exclusive Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart Lite controller, which can provide a range of real-time power system-related telemetry data, including motor speed, current, battery voltage and more – with and without Smart. battery – via compatible receivers (including AR631) and transmitters, equipped with Spektrum AirWare™ (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX20 and others) in real flight.
Choose the performance!
The AC power system installed includes a 45A Spektrum Avian Smart Lite regulator and a specially tuned motor that provides high thrust with a 3S 2200mAh LiPol battery or more speed and unlimited vertical power with up to a 4S 3200mAh LiPol battery, all without the need for any modifications or upgrades!

Original coloring by RJG
The model is finished in a very attractive and colorful red, white and blue color scheme. This is also part of the model - the real plane of Decathlon pilot RJ Gritter (RJG) who flies at major air shows across the states.
Easy assembly
No glue is needed for final assembly and you can have the Decathlon RJG 1.2m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the battery! And while it's sized to fit almost any vehicle, the one-piece wing can be removed for easier storage and transport. Screws, hands-free connection and quick release struts mean you can remove and install the wing in minutes without any tools.
Tailplane rudders
The model is designed for aerobatic flying, therefore it is equipped with sufficiently large elevator and rudder rudders. Direction control with a spur is a matter of course.
Replace the battery quickly
Remove the cab cover and you can quickly and easily change your LiPol drive battery right away. A magnet-secured strap holds the cover securely in place.
Box for LiPol
A bed for the battery is glued inside the hull, which is held in place by a pair of velcro straps.
Solid chassis
The model has a 3-wheel undercarriage arrangement, the main legs are fixed under the fuselage in the place of the wing struts. The large wheels are covered by aerodynamically shaped covers that are colored in the design style of the model.
We recommend to buy
Assembly of the model is relatively quick thanks to the ready-made model parts with installed electronics. To complete it, we recommend adding a Spektrum DSMX®/DSM2® 6+ channel RC transmitter and a 3S 11.1V or 4S 14.8V 2200-3200mAh LiPol drive battery with an EC3 / IC3 connector and a suitable charger.

To power the model, we recommend a driving LiPol battery with 3 or 4 cells (11.1 V, 14.8 V).

Recommended chargers for conventional LiPol and Smart batteries
If you decide to use modern Smart LiPo batteries in RC models of airplanes or helicopters, or to charge your batteries from other manufacturers, then we recommend the following chargers:

Accessories for normal operation
For the normal operation of flying RC models, you need suitable adhesives, a set of tools and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our assortment, we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) will certainly come in handy for assembly, and for cutting a Modelcraft cutting knife with an A6 pad.
For quick repair of model airplanes, we recommend the fast-curing 4-minute Epoxy glue. From our offer, we recommend Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71g
Protective covers for accumulators
Protective packaging is intended to limit the risk associated with the transport and charging of accumulators. LiPo accumulators, while maintaining small dimensions and low weight, can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity. The LiPo battery is particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore needs to be thoroughly protected.
