Characteristics
Twin-engine RC model of the E-flite DHC-6 Twin Otter 1.4m, modeled after a utility aircraft with STOL (short takeoff and landing) capability. It is equipped with contra-rotating propellers with brushless motors and the option of 3-4S LiPo power supply. In addition to the exciting model appearance with installed LED lighting, the model will offer amazing flight performance combined with predictable high-wing behavior. For takeoff and landing, the Twin Otter is equipped with flaps. This BNF version includes a Spektrum receiver with AS3X electronic stabilization system and SAFE . Thanks to the SAFE system, the model is also suitable for less experienced pilots who want to improve their piloting, while advanced pilots will enjoy a comfortable flight with a twin-engine model. With Spektrum electronics, you also get the engine thrust differentiation function and optional thrust reverser.
The receiver also includes a new feature called Smart Transmitter File, which makes setup easy and takes seconds. More information can be found here.

The RC model of the aircraft is made in Elapor molds and has a ready-made color. The structure contains the necessary reinforcement, the wing has a semi-symmetrical profile. The nacelles are supported by struts to the main landing gear for greater rigidity. It is possible to fly from a wide range of surfaces from airports, parks and sports fields with a hard or grass surface, to ponds or lakes in the case of using floats (floats are sold separately). Servos are installed from the factory and metal gears are used for the servo rudders, which are controlled by the nose wheel.
The DHC-6 Twin Otter was manufactured by de Havilland in Canada in 1965. It was designed to be rugged with STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) capabilities, carrying passengers and cargo to harsh environments such as Antarctica and the North African desert. The Canadian company de Havilland produced the DHC-6 Twin Otter from 1965 until 1988. A total of 844 aircraft were produced. Viking Air Limited then purchased the type certificates for all de Havilland aircraft not in production in 2005 and two years later announced the Viking Series 400 Twin Otter production program. As of mid-2015, Viking had delivered 75 new aircraft and is once again producing the Twin Otter as a successful airliner, with nearly 500 of the original aircraft still in service.

Bind-N-Fly version
Already own a Spektrum aircraft transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make it easy to get started because the aircraft model comes with a Spektrum receiver. The motor with speed control, servos, and Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver are also installed, so all you have to do is pair the receiver to your compatible transmitter and complete the final assembly (transmitter, batteries, and charger sold separately).

Smart technology
The exclusive Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart Lite controller provides a full range of real-time telemetry data, including motor RPM, current draw, flight battery voltage and more, via the Smart receiver and compatible Spektrum transmitters equipped with Spektrum AirWare™ technology (DX6e, DX8e, DX6 G2/3, DX8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX20 and more). In addition, the receiver comes preloaded with a model file that allows you to import all settings into your NX and iX series transmitters during pairing.

Versatile model
Motor thrust differentiation and reverse thrust capability – standard on the BNF Basic version, Smart compatible receiver required for the PNP version – significantly improve the model’s handling on the ground. They make taxiing, take-offs and landings easier, and allow for special aerobatic maneuvers. These features are also very useful when flying from the water with the optional floats.

3S-4S power supply
The factory-installed dual-motor AC drive system includes a 25A Spektrum Avian Dual Smart Lite ESC and specially designed motors that deliver high thrust when using a 3S LiPo battery (2200-3200 mAh). For even more power and unlimited vertical climb performance, you can also use a 4S LiPo battery without any modifications or upgrades!

Easy to assemble
No glues or special tools are required for final assembly, so you can have the Twin Otter 1.4m ready to fly before other aircraft! Although the model has a practical size that allows it to be transported assembled in almost any car, the two-piece wing can also be easily disassembled thanks to hands-free quick connectors.

Durable construction
The lightweight yet durable EPO construction is reinforced with composite materials for even greater strength. The model is equipped with a nose landing gear with a more durable digital servo with metal gears.
AS3X+™ stabilization
The Spektrum receiver is equipped with AS3X+ technology, which helps stabilize the model in flight. The receiver contains a three-axis MEMS gyro and accelerometer, and thanks to electronic stabilization , the control of the model is simplified , for example in windy weather. The model reacts similarly to a much larger model and its flight is calm while maintaining its full controllability. AS3X+ brings more confidence in control.
The AS3X+ stabilization algorithm creates better flight performance, improves sensor accuracy and data rate, and provides pilots with a generational different feel compared to the AS3X. The new AS3X+ parameters and new Forward Programming settings make it the easiest all-round stabilization system to use. It features a significantly improved algorithm that has been thoroughly tested by experts.
SAFE Select™ technology for beginners
Thanks to the SAFE Select technology, even a less experienced pilot can control the model . The SAFE system prevents over-banking in turns and also limits climb and descent. Simply releasing the controller's control sticks returns the model to level flight. These functions will be appreciated especially by novice pilots who are not yet fully confident in controlling the models.
As the name SAFE Select suggests, it is an optional feature - it is up to you whether you want to use or disable SAFE technology. The pairing method determines whether the SAFE function should be enabled or disabled. It is also possible to disable or enable the SAFE function during flight using a free transmitter channel.
Benefits of SAFE Select™:
- It limits the maximum bank of the model and thus prevents the model from going into a spin.
- Automatically puts the model into horizontal flight when you release the transmitter control sticks
- Using a free channel, the SAFE system can be turned on or off during flight.
