AC drive BL-2S

The BL-2s AC drive with a 3300rpm/V motor increases speed and acceleration by up to 60% compared to other DC motor drives. Improved efficiency, high-speed ball bearings and an internal cooling fan give the motor long life with minimal maintenance.

Extreme Heavy Duty components

Factory installed Extreme Heavy Duty suspension and drivetrain components are made from the most durable materials Traxxas uses. The strength is further increased by the central brace and shock absorber towers with double anti-shear attachment. The robust half-axles have an improved universal joint attachment.

Stability and control

The center of gravity of the model is concentrated low, below the level of the semi-axles for perfect weight distribution and associated controllability. Extra long GTR front and rear shocks maximize traction by keeping the new Sledgehammer ® Jato 4X4 buggy tires in constant contact with the surface.

Clipless bodywork

The unique body attachment system using beaks on the sides allows quick and easy battery replacement and the clean look of the model is not disturbed by the clips. The body has improved aerodynamics and eliminates the so-called parachute effect. The dimensional rear wing provides the necessary downforce and at the same time protects the model in the event of a rollover.

Low center of gravity chassis

The chassis of the model is made up of a proven combination of a spatial structure with hexagonal elements and a composite nylon structure with individual components that fit together precisely. Thanks to the long wheelbase and wide wheel track, the Jato provides stability even at high speeds.

Modular design

Thanks to the modular design of the Jato 4x4, you can easily disassemble it into parts with just a screwdriver. Within a minute you have access to all important components, model settings and service maintenance.

T-Bar undercarriage reinforcement

The Jato 4x4 borrows from the Sledge a patented T-shaped center brace that connects the front to the rear for extra stiffness. No ordinary pipe can match the strength of this shape.

Sliding plates

Low-profile front and rear skids allow for long arm travel and protect important drive components from damage. At the same time, the plates complement the clean lines of the chassis, which will not snag on obstacles.

Long shrug

The long stroke of the shoulders dampens even sharp impacts and improves the controllability of the model. In every situation, it will have a precise and quick steering response, thanks to maximum contact with the ground.

Suspension arms

The arms use a trapezoidal design and are made of the most durable Traxxas material that maintains its properties even in cold weather. From the racetrack to the skatepark, Jato can withstand even the most violent impacts.

Damper towers

New robust shock towers are reinforced to resist model tipping. The front tower is equipped with a cover to protect the dampers. The pressure wing is attached directly to the rear shock tower for extra stiffness.

Oil dampers

GTR shock absorbers represent the pinnacle of technology. Their 13mm diameter holds up to 70% more oil than standard Ultra shocks. The shock absorber is equipped with double X-rings to prevent oil leakage around the piston rod. The preload of the springs is conveniently adjusted using a nut.

Precise steering

The mechanics of turning the front wheels is realized by means of the Dual-Bell-Crank system, which ensures the precise movement of the rods to the wheels. The steering has an integrated cam servo-saver that absorbs shocks and protects the servo against overload. The couplings are one-piece and have the ideal length for driving characteristics.

Battery compartment

The universal compartment accommodates both LiPo and NiMH batteries. The extended bed allows the battery to be placed further forward or further back to adjust the center of gravity. An optional extension kit (sold separately) is available for use with oversized batteries.

Thrust wing

A sleek low-profile rear wing provides downforce for increased stability at high speeds. Lateral vertical guidance generates additional downforce for better steering response.

Waterproof* construction

The model uses a number of patented solutions that reduce the risk of water ingress to the electronics, such as the sealing of the receiver box, the servo, or the epoxy-coated electronics of the regulator. This gives you the motivation to go for a ride regardless of the weather.

Backlash

A fixed motor mounting system with pre-drilled holes according to the gear ratio eliminates doubts in setting the correct gap between the teeth. The gears always fit together exactly with maximum efficiency and long service life.

Friction clutch

The friction clutch uses a special semi-metallic friction material and aluminum alloy pressure plates to dissipate heat and ensure consistent traction control. The clutch slip intensity can be adjusted without disassembling the model.

Metal differentials

The Jato is equipped with quality metal gear differentials that are fully prepared for the power of the AC drive and even upgrade to VLX-3S. Precision sealing with X-rings allows differentials to be tuned for specific operating conditions by changing oil viscosity.

Robust gear teeth

The 32DP gear tooth module means the teeth are large and durable enough for the engine's power and for an eventual upgrade to an even more powerful VLX-3S drive.

Maxx-Duty axles

Half axles with reinforced cardan joints are made to handle the power of the AC motor without any problems. 6mm output shafts go into 17mm bottoms.

17 mm drivers

17mm wheel carriers create a large contact area to transfer power to the wheels. Their grooved design further increases durability. Carriers are compatible with most standard 1:8 wheels.

Ball bearings

Large ball bearings are used throughout the drivetrain for smooth operation. The bearings are equipped with a plastic cover so that a minimum of dirt gets into them. This solution extends the service life and simplifies the maintenance of the model.

SledgeHammer 3" wheels and tires

The unique appearance of the model is provided by 3" Buggy wheels with SledgeHammer tires. Sticky tires feature an extreme open block tread pattern that deflects dirt for unmatched traction. The highly durable rubber compound is specially designed to resist tearing.

Servo steering

Digital Traxxas servo 2075 high-torque waterproof with DC motor and nylon gears has a torque of 9.0 kg.cm and a speed of 0.17 s/60°@ 6.0 V. For water resistance*, the servo box and the output 1000 edges are fitted with seals. Two ball bearings provide very smooth operation.

AC motor 3300kv

The Traxxas 3300kv AC motor provides ideal affordable propulsion especially for 1:10 models with all the benefits of high performance, long life and minimal maintenance. The motor is equipped with a Quick Connect connector for easy connection. Other features include:

Electronic controller BL-2S

Waterproof* BL-2S electronic AC controller with three driving modes, 2S LiPo battery support and easy EZ-Set™ button control. The controller is equipped with a training mode that limits full throttle to 50%. Thanks to this, novice drivers or children can gradually familiarize themselves with the features of the model and prepare for the full power of the car. Thermal protection, protection against underdischarge of LiPo batteries, gold-plated connectors, simple operation, intuitive signaling with a two-color LED diode and a powerful cooler that can be supplemented with an optional fan (not included in the package).

BL-2S controller modes

Traxxas TQ RC Kit

The model is controlled by a two-channel proportional steering wheel RC radio Traxxas TQ, working in the 2.4 GHz band - operation without interference. The transmitter is powered by only 4 AA cells.

There is a rotary knob on the transmitter that trims the steering (so that the model goes straight if the steering wheel is in the center position). The status of the batteries in the transmitter is indicated by an LED. Reverse can be set on the transmitter on the throttle and steering channels.

TQ receiver

The Traxxas TQ 2.4 GHz three-channel receiver ensures safe driving without interruptions. Easy pairing with one button. Status indication by means of an LED diode.

Recommended LiPo batteries:

With modern LiPo batteries, the RC model will have high performance and drive for the maximum possible time. The model can be operated on a 2-cell (7.4 V) LiPo battery.

Transverse stabilizers

By installing the optional transverse stabilizers, the model will gain more stability in turns by leaning less. This will be especially appreciated on hard surfaces or on the race track.

Stand

The aluminum swivel stand will be the perfect addition to your service table or display shelf. The stand facilitates the maintenance of the model and at the same time prevents the deformation (stretching) of the tires during long-term standing.

Accessories for normal operation

For normal operation of the Traxxas RC car, you need bolt glue, good quality tire glue, silicone shock oil and a set of screwdrivers. We recommend an affordable set of tools for cars from our range.

The thread or head of the screw is dripped with screw glue, which fixes it and the vibrations caused by driving prevent the screw connection from loosening. The screw adhesive has a special composition that allows the screw connection to be easily loosened with an adequate torque without damaging the screw head. Never use ordinary instant glue, it might be impossible to loosen a screw stuck like this!

Tire glue is used to glue the tires to the disc rim. It is always necessary that the tire is firmly stuck to the wheel rim all the way around! If the tire is not glued all the way around, it may tear. Tire glue has a special composition that is able to glue materials such as rubber or nylon, and at the same time, after hardening, the glue is flexible. Never use ordinary instant glue - it is not flexible after hardening and cracks would gradually form in the tire around the rims!

Sometimes it is necessary to add silicone oil to the dampers of the model. During normal operation, there are only slight leaks of silicone oil on the piston rods of the shock absorber. In the event that the surface of the damper pistons or the condition of the seals is in poor condition, the oil leakage may be large. For these cases, the so-called repair kits. In the range of tuning parts, piston rods with an extremely hard TiN (titanium nitride) coating are delivered to all shock absorbers. Piston rods with a TiN surface are easily recognized by their golden-green color.
