The HobbyZone® Champ remote control model aircraft, which has taught countless pilots without any experience to fly since 2010, is being reissued to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HobbyZone brand and the 40th anniversary of Horizon Hobby. The upgraded model is now equipped with the exclusive AS3X electronic stabilization and SAFE technology , which makes flying even easier and safer. The fully assembled model is very compact thanks to its small size. It is suitable for indoor and windless flying in parks, sports fields and yards. This BNF version, without a DSMX transmitter, battery and charger, is suitable for pilots who already have some RC equipment or want to add it to their own preferences.
The model is fully assembled from the factory. Its polystyrene construction can be easily repaired in the event of an impact using foam glue (see accessories). In the event of major damage, spare parts are available. And the fun doesn't end even after you learn to fly! The Champ's powerful electric motor allows for longer flight times and provides enough speed and power to perform basic aerobatic maneuvers such as somersaults and more. This means that even slightly advanced pilots for recreational flying will appreciate the Champ. The model has 3-channel control: throttle, elevator and rudder (with spur wheel).
Skill level 1 aircraft like this are ideal for beginners, no previous experience is needed to fly them.
Already own a Spektrum aircraft transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make it easy to get started because the aircraft model comes with a Spektrum receiver. The motor with speed control, servos, and Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver are also installed, so all you have to do is pair the receiver to your compatible transmitter and complete the final assembly (transmitter, batteries, and charger sold separately).
The Champ comes 100% assembled and ready to fly right out of the box, meaning you only need to charge the battery.

The EPS construction ensures a lightweight yet durable airframe. It can also be easily repaired using special foam-friendly instant glues and epoxy adhesives. Or if you damage any parts and cannot repair them, a full range of replacement parts are available.
SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology simplifies the control of the model and allows it to be flown even by novice pilots and children. It also offers flight modes that give you more control and the opportunity to gradually improve with just the press of a button. Once you have improved enough, you can turn off SAFE (expert mode) by simply pressing a button on the transmitter and try flying without assistance. Even with the SAFE function turned off, the AS3X stabilization is always active, which corrects wind gusts and the flight is so much calmer as if you were flying a much larger aircraft. You can also choose between larger and smaller deflections of the control surfaces on the model for calmer or more aggressive reactions.
In this flight mode, the aircraft has a pitch (forward/backward) and roll (left/right) angle limitation, which prevents the model from falling over. If you release the directional control back to the center position, the aircraft will automatically return to level flight, giving you a smooth flight. And best of all, takeoff and landing are easy. You can take off from a flat surface or by throwing it from your hand.
This flight mode has no angle restrictions, so you have complete control! You can even perform basic aerobatic maneuvers, including flips, spins, and more.
To get the model up and running, you need a Spektrum 4+ channel DSM2/DSMX transmitter, a 1S 150-210mAh LiPo battery with a JST PH 1.25 connector, and a compatible charger.

To connect a battery with a JST PH 1.25 connector to a universal charger, it is necessary to purchase a reduction cable IC3 battery (female) - JST PH1.25 (UMX) device.

For normal operation of flying RC models you need suitable adhesives, a tool kit and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our range we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm Allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). For assembly, Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) will certainly come in handy, and for cutting, Modelcraft cutting knife with A6 washer.

Protective packaging is designed to reduce the risk associated with transporting and charging batteries. LiPo batteries can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity while maintaining small dimensions and low weight. LiPo batteries are particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore need to be carefully protected.
