Billing Boats
In the early 1950s, Danish architect and former RAF pilot Ejnar Billing displayed a handmade model of a fishing boat in the window of his wife's hobby shop. After a photo of the model appeared in a magazine, Mr. Billing was inundated with orders to build dozens of the same model. Since he was unable to handle such a large number, he decided to offer the boat as a kit - the first mass-produced kit with a wooden frame with a keel, ribs and planked skin, imitating the construction of real ships as closely as possible. This method of construction quickly caught on and Mr. Billing's models began to conquer the world. In 1958, the family business was founded, which still bears the name Billing Boats today. Over the years, the design of the models has been improved and modernized, in the 1960s the use of plastic hull moldings was introduced, then CNC machines came along and at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s Billing Boats began to use laser cutting of parts. Today, the company is managed by the third generation of Billings and the floating RC models and non-floating tabletop models still represent the absolute top in ship modeling.

ZEELAND
A tugboat built in the Netherlands during World War II; one of the last to be steam-powered. After the war, she served in Amsterdam with the Goedkoop company under the name Winston Churchill. In the 1960s, she was sold to Willem Muller, who converted her to diesel power and named her Zeeland. Her long service ended in the scrapyard in 1997. Henk de Winde, one of the captains of the Zeeland, remembers the ship as follows: "This lady was not easy to get along with, but after 25 years of happy marriage, I know that she was truly unique..."

The 1:35 scale kit is intended for slightly advanced shipbuilders. Zeeland is also very suitable as a model for the NAVIGA F4B class of ship models from building kits, as proven by the model successfully competing in the Czech Championship series.

Zeeland has a plastic molded hull with internal laser-cut plywood stiffeners, a plywood deck and a superstructure made of plywood and plastic parts. The kit includes a plastic molded hull and all other plastic and wooden parts needed to complete the model, model accessories (e.g. position lights, anchors, lifebuoys, etc.), a ship's shaft with a sleeve and a four-blade brass propeller.

To power the model, a 500-600 series DC motor, at least a 30 A bidirectional regulator (depending on the motor) and a 6-7 cell NiMH or 2-3S LiPo battery with a capacity of 2-5000 mAh are expected.

In principle, even the most ordinary two-channel RC kit will suffice for controlling the basic functions; a standard servo will suffice for controlling the rudder. But for a true modeler, it is of course a "must" to add as many model functions as possible (lights, sound module, water cannon, maneuvering unit, etc.), which will require the use of a multi-channel RC kit - and there are never enough channels.
