    Billing Boats

In the early 1950s, Danish architect and former RAF pilot Ejnar Billing displayed a self-made model of a fishing boat in the window of his wife's hobby shop. After a photo of the model appeared in a magazine, Mr. Billing was flooded with orders to build dozens of the same model. Since it was beyond his power to handle such a quantity, he thought of offering the boat as a kit - the first mass-produced kit with a wooden frame with keel, ribs and planking as close as possible to the construction of real ships. This method of construction quickly caught on, and Mr. Billing's models began to conquer the world. In 1958, a family company was founded that still bears the name Billing Boats. Over the years, the construction of the models was improved and modernized, in the 60s the use of plastic molded hulls was introduced, then CNC machines came in, and already at the turn of the 80s and 90s Billing Boats began to enjoy laser cutting of parts. Today, the company is managed by the third generation of Billings, and both floating RC models and non-floating table models still represent the absolute top in ship modeling.

We are pleased to offer you the Billing Boats series of kits, from which you can build beautifully detailed remote-controlled floating models or create a stylish addition to your apartment interior with the salty smell of the sea and the call of distant...

    Emile Robin 1:33

Lifeboat launched in 1989 named in honor of French patron Emile Robin, whose foundation became famous for supporting maritime rescuers around the world. The MRB 20 Emile Robin is homeported in Hvide Sande on the west coast of Denmark. The actual ship is 19.99m long, 49t displacement and a pair of engines gives it a speed of up to 12 knots. The 1:33 scale kit is intended for slightly advanced shipbuilders.

The Emile Robin has a molded plastic hull with internal plywood stiffeners, a plastic deck and superstructure made of plywood and plastic parts. The kit includes a plastic molded hull and all other plastic and wooden parts needed to complete the model, model accessories (e.g. position lights, anchors, life rafts, etc.), ship shafts with bushings and ship screws.

To drive the model, DC motors of the 280 or 400 series, at least 10 A two-way regulators (depending on the motor) and a 6-cell NiMH or 2S LiPo battery with a capacity of 2-3000 mAh are expected.

In principle, even the most ordinary two-channel RC kit and one speed controller for both motors connected in parallel are sufficient to control the basic functions; a common standard servo will do for controlling the rudder. In order to achieve the best controllability and maneuverability, it is advisable to use independent control of both engines, allowing the ship to be steered not only by the rudders, but also by the engines - for this you will need at least a four-channel transmitter with a mix for butterfly tail surfaces. In addition to reducing the turning radius, steering with the motors makes the boat much easier to control when reversing (when the rudders are of little effect). You will appreciate this at modeling competitions in the NAVIGA F4A or F4B categories. The Emile Robin is ideal as a first entry-level model for the F4B category (with graded build and ride) - the build is not complicated and plenty of well-available photos of the real boat allow you to complete and thoroughly work out the mock-up details.
