Extreme Flight aerobatic models are loosely based on real aircraft, with the designer taking the liberty of making a number of modifications to create a model with a unique appearance and flight performance. Extreme Flight models use several advanced structural and aerodynamic concepts. The lightweight construction, based on balsa and plywood parts, uses carbon and glass composite materials generously - and in the right places - to achieve high strength and stiffness of the airframe at minimal weight. The result is a robust model capable of handling a wide range of aerodynamic loads, yet light enough to achieve high performance.
The kit includes tuning winglets or Side Force Generators (SFG) that increase the effective side area of the model, making knife flight and other turns that depend on rudder "authority" easier and more stable. These winglets also make the model more stable during high-angle of attack turns (harriers). We highly recommend that you mount them on your model and experiment with them.
The perfectly sprayed laminate engine cover and aerodynamic wheel covers, as well as the ability to choose from multiple color schemes of the high-visibility ULTRACOTE (=Oracover) iron-on film, will give you a model that you will be rightly proud of at the airport. The combination of all these modern elements creates a model that pushes the boundaries of modern aerobatic flying. Extreme Flight models excel in all modes of modern aerobatics, including slow 3D aerobatics at low altitude, fast and aggressive extreme aerobatics and classic precision aerobatics.
Sports semi-scale model of an aerobatic aircraft powered by a 70-76cc gasoline engine or an electric motor with a 12S Lipo power supply for experienced pilots for flying classic precision and extreme 3D aerobatics, now in the third development version.
The model's fuselage is a classic construction of plywood and balsa laser-cut parts with composite reinforcements with a removable laminate engine cover and a removable upper fuselage with a cabin (attached with a CNC quick-release system) for perfect access to the drive system and RC equipment. The engine is mounted in the rear assembly on a plywood box bed; A tunnel is provided on the underside of the fuselage for possible installation of a tuned exhaust muffler.
The kit includes the lower half of the engine cover made of clear plastic for easy and precise measurement of any openings when using set exhausts (mufflers).
The two-piece wing with a symmetrical profile (the halves are inserted from the side onto the carbon tube connector and secured with a CNC quick-release system)) is also a classic design with an all-balsa rigid cover. The large-area ailerons are each controlled by one standard-sized servo. The wing tips can be fitted with the supplied winglets.
The tail surfaces are lightweight all-balsa construction, the VOP is two-piece with the stabilizer halves slid onto a carbon tube and secured with a CNC quick-release system. The elevator halves are controlled by servos mounted in the horizontal stabilizer with short straight rods. The rudder is controlled by one standard-sized servo mounted in the tail. The entire model is covered with ULTRACOTE iron-on film (this is the trademark used in the USA for the well-known Oracover films).
The chassis is of the spur type with carbon main legs, wheels with laminate covers and a wire spur with a carbon console coupled to the rudder.
For propulsion, you will need a 70-76cc petrol engine (e.g. GP76) or an electric motor of the XPWR 60cc size, a 160A ESC and a 12S Lipo battery with a capacity of 5000-6000mAh.
To control the model, at least a nine-channel computer RC kit will suffice - the possibility of precise adjustment of "paired" servos and programming of double and exponential deflections in the correct size is for aerobatics flying - classic precise even extreme 3D – essential.
The servos are fast and very powerful in standard sizes - e.g. Kavan GO-1081MG, GO-1088MGW, Hitec HS-7950TH, D980TW or HSB-9381TH and one standard servo for throttle control.
The kit includes: iron-on foil-coated fuselage, wing and tail surfaces, sprayed laminate engine cover, lower half of the engine cover made of clear plastic, complete set of accessories, carbon chassis, spurs, wheels and instructions.
