Top programmable microprocessor controller for AC motors without sensors ("brushless, sensorless") constructed using the possibilities of the most modern semiconductor technology with excellent utility properties and extensive programming and setting options. It is used to control the speed of AC electric motors in larger and giant model airplanes or helicopters when powered by LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries. It is designed with high long-term load capacity and durability in mind, which is required in competition and large models. For helicopters, it offers an advanced governor function with a number of adjustable constant speed control parameters. It is equipped with a high-performance switching power supply stabilizer BEC with an adjustable output voltage ensuring the power supply of the receiver and servos from the drive battery. For easy adjustment of the controller, use the special Multifunctional LCD programming box Hobbywing or the OTA programmer with Bluetooth, which are sold separately.
DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR
- Suitable for the vast majority of aircraft AC motors powered by 6-14S LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries.
- High-performance microprocessor for precise governor function (constant speed maintenance) and super soft start.
- A special power stabilizer for the microprocessor for high resistance to interference and to reduce the risk of loss of control.
- DEO (Driving Efficiency Optimization) optimized control technology significantly improves throttle response and power stage control efficiency, reduces regulator temperature.
- New switched BEC power supply stabilizer with output voltage adjustable in the range of 5-12 V and load capacity 10 A continuous / 30 A peak.
- The BEC is separated from the other circuits of the regulator, it can maintain the correct function even if the power board with MOSFET transistors of the regulator burns out.
- Extensive programming options with a wide range of adjustable functions and parameters.
- Flight Modes: Airplane, Helicopter (Linear Throttle), Helicopter (Elf Governor), Helicopter (Store Governor).
- The new governor program with adjustable P/I governor parameters brings excellent maintenance of constant revolutions, guarantees stable revolutions of the carrier rotor even with sudden changes in load.
- The flight data recorder records rpm, minimum voltage and maximum temperature during flight.
- The "autorotate restart" function can manually interrupt the autorotation and quickly restart the motor to avoid a crash caused by improper model control.
- Independent output port for tachometer signals in helicopter modes.
- Special programming port for programming the controller or setting the parameters of the Multifunctional LCD programming box PRO or OTA module with Bluetooth.
- Supports online data check, controller programming, firmware update on PC or smartphone/tablet (requires Multi-function LCD programming box PRO or OTA module).
- OTA module with Bluetooth (sold separately) for wireless programming of the controller using your smartphone (iOS or Android).
- A number of protection functions: start-up protection, thermal protection of the regulator, thermal protection of capacitors, overload protection, overcurrent protection and protection in case of loss of control signal.
PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS
- Flight Mode: Allows you to select programs for airplanes, helicopters (with linear throttle/external governor), helicopters (with Elf governor) or helicopters (with Store governor).
- Number of LiPo cells: The regulator offers automatic detection of the number of cells or its manual setting.
- Method of disconnecting the motor when the voltage protection is activated: The controller will gradually reduce the power to 50% of full power within 3 seconds after the voltage protection is activated, if the "Power Limit" mode is selected. If the "Hard Shutdown" mode is selected, the engine is immediately shut down.
- PCO - Voltage protection: The threshold level of voltage protection is adjustable in the range of 2.8-3.8 V/cell.
- BEC Voltage: The BEC voltage of the power stabilizer is adjustable between 5.0-12.0V in 0.1V steps.
- Response time: Throttle response time is adjustable between 4-25 in steps of 1.
- Governor parameter P: Determines the ability of the governor to maintain a stable speed.
- Governor parameter I: Determines the dynamic response of the governor.
- Auto Restart Time: In Helicopter (Elf/Store Governor) modes, the governor shuts down the engine when the throttle is between 25 and 40%. If you add throttle above 40% during the preset auto restart time, the engine will start quickly and (during the set restart acceleration time) accelerate to the rpm corresponding to the current throttle value. If you add throttle above 40% after the preset auto restart time, the controller will go into soft start.
- Restart Acceleration Time: Adjustable between 1-3s in 0.5s increments. This function determines the time the engine takes to restart and accelerate to full speed in Helicopter (Elf/Store Governor) modes.
- Brake: Sets the propeller brake function for aircraft models - off, normal.
- Braking intensity: Adjustable between 0-100% in steps of 1% for Normal brake mode.
- Timing: Adjustable between 0-30° in steps of 1°.
- Motor rotation direction: Clockwise/Counterclockwise.
- DEO Idle: This feature can be turned on or off in Airplane or Helicopter (Linear Throttle) modes for better linearity of throttle response.
PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR
- Start-up protection: The regulator measures the engine speed during start-up. If the revolutions stop increasing or their increase is not stable, the controller evaluates this as an incorrect start. If at this moment the throttle is at less than 15%, the controller will automatically try to restart the engine again; if the throttle is at more than 15%, you must pull the throttle all the way down to restart the engine again.
- Thermal protection of the regulator: If the temperature of the regulator exceeds 120°C, the regulator will gradually limit the power, but will not shut down the engine completely. To ensure that the engine maintains a certain power and does not cause a crash, the maximum power limitation is approx. 50% of full power. As the temperature of the controller decreases, the controller will gradually restore maximum power. In addition, when switching on, the temperature of the regulator must not exceed 70°C, otherwise the motor cannot be switched on.
- Loss of Throttle Signal: The controller shuts down the engine if the signal is missing for 0.25s to prevent even more damage and hazards from a rapidly rotating rotor or propeller. Once a normal signal is received, the controller resumes normal function.
- Overload protection: The controller shuts down the motor or restarts automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value. (Possible cause: propeller or rotor jam.)
- Overcurrent protection: the controller shuts down the motor if the current approaches the short-circuit current value. This protection can be activated by a short circuit in a burned out motor or for other reasons.
Tip: When switching on the regulator for the very first time, first calibrate the gas range according to the instructions. Only then is it possible to use the controller and set other parameters with the help of the Multifunctional LCD programming box PRO or the OTA module with Bluetooth.
