Characteristics
The 35.6" (900mm) wingspan E-flite® SE5a RC model is the most fun and best-flying model of the iconic World War I fighter jet for intermediate to experienced pilots. It features unmatched scale detail, advanced features and Spektrum technology for unexpected flight performance. It's easy to assemble and its compact size makes it ideal for flying in large parks, sports fields and RC airports.

Once known as the “Spitfire of World War I,” the SE5 was one of the finest British single-seat fighters of its time and played a key role in the Allied victory over the Allies in 1917. Over 5,000 were built. Inspired by the original ParkZone design, the E-flite® SE5a 900mm retains historical accuracy while adding modern technology. It features factory-installed Spektrum™ metal-geared digital servos, a Spektrum 45A Smart Lite ESC, and a powerful brushless motor compatible with popular 3S and 4S 2200-3200mAh batteries. The BNF Basic version includes a Spektrum AR631+ receiver with enhanced AS3X+® stabilization technology and optional SAFE® Select for easier flying.
The receiver also includes a new feature called Upload Settings from Receiver to Transmitter (Smart Transmitter File), making setup easy and a matter of seconds.
The model allows for slow and smooth scale flying and basic aerobatics, while more aggressive control can handle more complex elements. Detailed processing includes mock-up fins, realistic radiators and exhausts, machine guns, a pilot figure with a typical scarf and optionally usable elastic struts. Large front wheels allow rolling even on grass, the spur is steerable. Wings and struts are easy to install. The model is finished in the classic two-tone Royal Flying Corps camouflage from the factory.

Skill Level 2 – Requires some experience
Skill level 2 aircraft like this model are best suited for RC pilots who already have some experience and skills in assembling, setting up and flying models of a similar class. Although this is a great flying and stable model, you should have experience and skills with models such as the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.2m, Commander mPd 1.4m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other models of a similar class.

Smart™ technology
The exclusive Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart Lite controller provides a full range of real-time telemetry data, including motor RPM, current draw, flight battery voltage and more, via the Smart receiver and compatible Spektrum transmitters equipped with Spektrum AirWare™ technology (DX6e, DX8e, DX6 G2/3, DX8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX20 and more). In addition, the receiver comes preloaded with a model file that allows you to import all settings into your NX and iX series transmitters during pairing.

Universal performance
The factory-installed Spektrum outrunner brushless motor is compatible with 3S and 4S LiPo batteries and offers a wide range of performance - from quiet flying and basic aerobatics on a 3S LiPo battery to unlimited vertical thrust and agile responses for aggressive aerobatics on a 4S LiPo battery! The top hatch, magnetically secured, makes it easy to install and remove popular batteries with a recommended capacity of 2200-3200 mAh.

Durability and accuracy
The model's lightweight and durable EPO airframe is reinforced with composite for even greater strength. The installed digital servos with metal gears provide reliable and precise control at any speed, so you can perform various maneuvers with confidence.

Model details
The SE5a RC aircraft model is equipped with a number of details accurately modeled in scale, such as front fins, radiator and engine exhaust, machine gun and pilot figure with scarf.

Easy assembly
No glue is required for final assembly, and you can have the SE5a ready to fly in less time than any other aircraft. And while the model is sized to fit fully assembled into almost any vehicle, you can remove the one-piece wings.

AS3X+™ stabilization
The Spektrum receiver is equipped with AS3X+ technology, which helps stabilize the model in flight. The receiver contains a three-axis MEMS gyro and accelerometer, and thanks to electronic stabilization, simplifies the control of the model , e.g. in windy weather. The model reacts similarly to a much larger model and its flight is calm, without maintaining its full controllability. AS3X+ brings more confidence in control.
The AS3X+ stabilization algorithm creates better flight performance, improves sensor accuracy and data rate, and provides pilots with a generational different feel compared to the AS3X. The new AS3X+ parameters and new Forward Programming settings make it the easiest all-round stabilization system to use. It features a significantly improved algorithm that has been thoroughly tested by experts.
SAFE Select™ technology for beginners
Thanks to the SAFE Select technology, even a less experienced pilot can control the model . The SAFE system prevents over-banking in turns and also limits climb and descent. Simply releasing the controller's control sticks returns the model to level flight. These functions will be appreciated especially by novice pilots who are not yet fully confident in controlling the models.
As the name SAFE Select suggests, it is an optional feature - it is up to you whether you want to use or disable SAFE technology. The pairing method determines whether the SAFE function should be enabled or disabled. It is also possible to disable or enable the SAFE function during flight using a free transmitter channel.

We recommend buying
To get started, you need a Spektrum 4–5+ channel DSM2/DSMX transmitter, a 3S 11.1 V or 4S 14.8 V 2200-3200 mAh LiPo battery with IC3 (EC3) connector, and a compatible charger. A PH1 Phillips screwdriver is required for assembly.

If you decide to use modern Smart LiPo batteries in your RC model airplanes or helicopters, or to charge your batteries from other manufacturers, then we recommend these chargers:

Accessories for normal operation
For normal operation of flying RC models you need suitable adhesives, a tool kit and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our range we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm Allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). For assembly, Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) will certainly come in handy, and for cutting, Modelcraft cutting knife with A6 washer.
For quick repairs of aircraft models, we recommend a fast-curing 4-minute Epoxy glue. From our offer, we recommend Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71g

Protective covers for batteries
Protective packaging is designed to reduce the risk associated with transporting and charging batteries. LiPo batteries can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity while maintaining small dimensions and low weight. LiPo batteries are particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore need to be carefully protected.
