An RC model of a desert speed special that allows for almost the same adrenaline experience as driving in the dunes with a real race car with 1000 horses and speeds of up to 240 km/h. The Funco model from Traxxas has giant dimensions of the X-series in 1:5 scale and reaches speeds of up to 90 km/h, while maintaining raw realistic driving characteristics.
The revised chassis includes a new robust transmission and differential. The powerful power of the 8S drive is sent to the rear axle with massive paddle tires. For intensive braking effect on all wheels, the model has, in addition to the rear engine brake, newly developed disc brakes on the front axle.
The model is powered by a VXL-8S controller and a powerful Velineon 1200XL brushless motor. The programmable Traxxas TQi transmitter can be equipped with a Bluetooth module (sold separately) to connect the model to a mobile phone and display telemetry data, such as speed or engine speed.
The model's hallmark is its accurately replicated scale appearance. Every part of the model, including the frame structure, the finished interior and the light bars, looks amazing. For convenient model preparation, the body is clip-free, with easy assembly and disassembly. The batteries are secured in the compartments using a latched partition. This is a quick, fast and convenient battery replacement system.
The Pro Scale Sand Car is the largest member of the X-Series, surpassing the legendary X-Maxx® in both length and width. Its impressive dimensions not only deliver amazing scale detail, but also realistic handling and a commanding appearance. Thanks to its wide track and robust construction, the Sand Car maintains exceptional stability when driving fast on desert roads and jumping over dunes.
Traxxas has paid attention to every detail to accurately replicate the real Funco GTU Sand Car. The model boasts a complete interior with dashboard and driver and navigator figures, as well as realistic 3.5" shocks with external mock-up tanks. The masterpiece is the mock-up engine made up of nine separate parts, including licensed R2C air filters and a Whipple compressor.
Powerful front disc brakes work with rear engine braking to provide strong, controlled stopping power on all four wheels. Brake pads in calipers grip a stainless steel disc that has cooling holes for a model look. The brakes are servo-operated via bowden cables.
The aggressive Pro Scale Sand Car paddle tires have twice the number of blades compared to regular tires, which ensures extreme traction when starting off. The reinforced construction with an integrated belt prevents deformation even at high wheel speeds. This minimizes the risk of damage.
The body is reinforced with an internal frame along its entire length, providing rollover protection. Plus, for easy access to the chassis and battery, simply pull the latches and the entire body is instantly released.
The RC car model is equipped with the most powerful brushless drive from Traxxas - the Velineon® VXL-8s™ controller and the 1200XL motor. The high-performance VXL-8s controller ensures maximum power throughout the entire speed range. In addition, the controller supports telemetry, which you can view in the app, just buy a Bluetooth module for the transmitter.
With over 30V of AC motor power going to the rear wheels alone, extremely durable mechanics are needed. Inside the heavily reinforced gearbox housing, giant gears with M1.5 gearing transmit power smoothly and reliably. An X-Maxx differential with larger output shafts connects steel axles, creating the most durable drivetrain ever installed in a Traxxas model.

The colorful light bars rise more than 25 cm above the bodywork and provide good orientation of the model's position even when driving through the dunes at speeds of over 90 km/h. The lights are color-coordinated with the bodywork, giving the model a dramatic look. The new Flex-Tech™ spring mounts allow the light bars to bend without damage, for example when overturning.
