Characteristics
The RC model of the North American-Rockwell OV-10 Bronco airplane with a wingspan of 2.1m has a light but strong wooden structure, it is covered with foil in the color of fire protection CAL FIRE. The package includes an electric suspension retractable chassis . Either 20cc internal combustion engines or an equivalent electric drive are recommended. The model has a realistic cabin with a cockpit and a pilot figure.
The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco was a turboprop light attack and observation aircraft that was produced in the 1960s. Its main role was to manage air support for ground units. STOL, carrier takeoff, short runway takeoff and landing capabilities were required. Bronco aircraft performed observation, aerial guidance, helicopter escort, armed reconnaissance, light airlift and limited ground attack. The aircraft also carried out radiological reconnaissance, tactical aerial observation, marking targets for artillery and naval fire, aerial control of tactical air support and front lines, but also aerial photography from low altitudes. Standard armament consisted of 4 M60C machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber, as well as 4 hangers for bombs, rocket launchers and additional tanks. The Bronco fought in Vietnam and participated in Operation Desert Storm. Many of the aircraft are still in service today, including with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to help fight and prevent wildfires.
The RC model from Hangar 9® OV-10 Bronco is an all-wood balsa and plywood construction and is covered in an iron-on printed foil with faithful mock-up camouflage. Fans of model war machines will surely find something to like with this model, which has an unconventional look with two hulls, a large cabin and a central pilot's nacelle. Attractive shapes and reasonable dimensions will ensure that the model will undoubtedly attract the attention of your colleagues and onlookers at your airport. The three-piece wing allows only the outer parts of the wing to be removed for transport of the middle section including the fuselage, landing gear and elevator with the landing gear extended or retracted. Or you can remove a few more screws and then it is possible to transport and store all the parts separately . 20cc internal combustion engines or an adequate 6S electric drive are recommended for propulsion.
The Hangar 9® OV-10 Bronco has a light but strong and durable wooden construction. The applied UltraCote film and matching painted parts match the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's CAL FIRE aircraft livery. The included decals allow you to personalize your model using hull markings, an N number and a city name of your choice. Various details including pitot tube, antennas, cockpit details, pilot figure and more complete the look of the model. In addition, the included electric retractable landing gear with suspension legs enhances the flying experience. All this contributes to the creation of a unique and versatile model that is a great choice for experienced pilots!

Unique coloring
The model is based on the OV-10 aircraft, used by CAL FIRE to fight forest fires and prevent them. It features a factory-applied UltraCote iron-on film and includes decals so you can use the designation, N number and city name of your choice.
Optimal size
Thanks to the given size of the model, it can be transported in the corresponding car trunk directly on the chassis (width 901mm, length 2159mm). Of course, it is necessary to remove the outer parts of the wing.
Choose your drive
The OV-10 Bronco 20ccm can fly with a variety of internal combustion or electric engines. All mounting hardware for the recommended 20cc internal combustion engine or LiPol 6S compatible electric drive is included for easier assembly and setup.
Model details and accessories
The OV-10 Bronco features a range of mock-up details including a nose light, pitot tube, aerials and cockpit details including a pilot figure, seats and instrument panels. Optionally available as recommended accessories are aluminum cones, gun undercarriage covers and ejection tanks.
Landing gear legs
The supplied electric retractable chassis kit includes suspension aluminum legs with trailing wheels, which are highly durable for operation from various surfaces. The bow leg is of course controlled.
We recommend to buy
The kit is without electronics and equipment , therefore it is necessary to add 12 channels for commissioning. RC set, servos, batteries, cabling, motors, regulators for electric versions, adhesives and assembly aids. Since the model is intended for experienced modelers, a complete specific list of accessories and tools is not given here.

What RC device to equip a model airplane with?
RC airplane models in the ARF version are not equipped with electronics, so it needs to be supplemented. You can use classic electronics or state-of-the-art with SAFE or SMART functions. SAFE will protect the flight envelope and flight line of the AS3X 3-axis gyro. SMART offers real-time telemetry data. To take advantage of these features, you can choose a modern 6-channel Spektrum NX6 DSMX RC transmitter and a Spektrum AR631 6CH AS3X/SAFE receiver with gyroscopes (AS3X) and SAFE flight envelope protection to control the model . If you need to control more functions, the Spektrum NX8 DSMX 8-channel RC transmitter and the Spektrum AR8360T AS3X/SAFE receiver with telemetry are available.
How does it work?
The electronics of the receiver is equipped with electronic stabilization AS3X , which can guide the model straight as if on a line. Based on the information from the 3-axis gyroscope, the microprocessor keeps the position of the model in the same position until you give the command to change it using the transmitter.
If you are not a very experienced pilot, you can activate the SAFE Select technology, which is integrated in the receiver. The SAFE function secures the flight envelope by limiting the extreme flight limits of yaw and pitch. Electronic stability is also active, when the control levers of the transmitter are returned to neutral, the model is leveled into horizontal flight.
Use Smart technology for more information!
Spektrum SMART offers, through TELEMETRY, immediate data on the status of important electronic components of your model. Smart receivers, controllers, batteries, chargers and transmitters equipped with the Spektrum AirWare™ menu communicate via telemetry with Smart system components without additional telemetry sensors, so you can have an immediate overview of battery health, temperature, current and engine speed.
Data transfer over one wire
SMART technology enables the transmission of telemetry data using a single wire in the innovative connectors IC3 and IC5. When connected to the Spektrum™ Smart charger, the Smart G2's unique battery parameters, health and cell information are automatically uploaded from its memory microchip via the IC3® or IC5® connector data wire. To charge the battery, simply connect it to the Smart charger. Safe charging starts automatically and no separate balance cable is needed.
Recommended chargers for conventional and Smart batteries
If you decide to use modern Smart LiPo batteries in RC model airplanes, then we recommend the following chargers:
- Network charger Spektrum S1100AC with one output 1x 100W .
- Network charger Spektrum S1400 with one output 1x 400W .
- Network charger Spektrum S2200 with two outputs 2x 200W .
