In 1962, Eugen Hänle founded Glasflügel Segelflugzeugbau GmbH, which soon became the first large-scale manufacturer of glass-fiber gliders. Their products have always been characterized by innovative solutions - from easy disassembly of the wing and horizontal tail surface, through control systems with flaps and brakes, to practical cockpit solutions, which are generally used in gliders to this day. After the tragic death of Eugene Hänle in a plane crash in 1975, the company got into trouble and eventually ceased to exist in 1982.
In the mid-1990s, the young Czech company HPH (which has already gained a reputation as a manufacturer of museum-quality aircraft models) took over the production of one of the last gliders created in Glasflügel - model 304. Great machines began to fly from Kutná Hora in Central Bohemia. : first HPH 304CZ produced using original molds and jigs, later modernized HPH 304C Wasp 15m class FAI; then in 2006 a completely newly designed single-seater HPH 304S Shark 18m class and in 2017 a two-seater HPH 304TS Twin Shark 20m class. And now you can enjoy flying a semi-scale model of this beautiful 2700 mm glider powered by a powerful AC motor!
The fuselage of the model is made of highly durable foam EPO (extruded polyolefin) with thorough internal carbon reinforcements. A C3548-750 AC electric motor with an 11x8 “tilting propeller and a KAVAN R-50SB regulator with a powerful BEC power stabilizer needed to power 6 servos on board is installed in the bow. The cab cover is removable, it is fastened with a pin at the front and a magnet at the rear. In the bow you will find enough space for the propulsion battery and receiver. The rudder and elevator servos are mounted in the keel, the rudders are controlled by short straight wire rods.
The wing of the EPO foam model is two-part with carbon beams, the protruding parts of which also serve as a wing coupling fitting into the duralumin housings in the fuselage. The halves of the sash are secured in place with a plastic screw. The ailerons and flaps (both reinforced with carbon tubes) are controlled independently by two servos with short straight wire rods.
The tail surfaces are also made of EPO foam with carbon tube reinforcements. The horizontal tail surface is attached to the keel with a pair of screws for easy assembly and disassembly.
The model is driven by an AC motor of class C3548-750 with a 50A KAVAN R-50SB regulator.
For power supply you will need a LiPo four-cell with a capacity of 2600–3300 mAh with a load capacity of at least 30C. Choose a specific type so that the correct position of the center of gravity is as good as possible without further import.Even a six-channel computer RC kit without special functions is enough to control the model in an emergency - in the basic version, the ailerons and flaps are always connected to only one channel using Y-cables. Of course, it is ideal to use at least a seven-channel computer RC kit that allows independent control of ailerons and flaps by two servos and their mixing in the role of butterfly brakes (both wings swing upwards and both flaps down), which today can do affordable Radiolink AT9S or AT10II or Futaba T6K or T10J. In this case, it is necessary to replace the Y-cables of the ailerons and flaps in the fuselage with four individual (15-30 cm) extension cables. Of course, the manual does not lack a thorough table with a proven default rudder deflection settings (including mixers), so that you can easily prepare the Twin Shark for flight, even if it is your first glider with "full mechanization" of the wing.
ARF set contains: finished fuselage, wing and tail surfaces made of EPO foam with installed engine, propeller, regulator and 6 servos, instructions.
