Extreme Flight aerobatic models are loosely based on real aircraft, with the designer taking the liberty of making a number of modifications to create a model with a unique appearance and flight performance. Extreme Flight models utilize several advanced structural and aerodynamic concepts. The lightweight construction, based on balsa and plywood parts, uses carbon and glass composite materials liberally - and in just the right places - to achieve high strength and stiffness of the airframe at minimal weight. The result is a robust model capable of handling a wide range of aerodynamic loads, but light enough to achieve high performance.
The kit includes tuning winglets, or Side Force Generators (SFG), which increase the effective side area of the model, making knife flight and other turns that depend on rudder "authority" easier and more stable. These winglets also make the model more stable during high-angle-of-attack turns (harriers). We highly recommend that you install them on the model and experiment with them.
A perfectly sprayed laminate engine cowling and aerodynamic wheel covers, as well as the ability to choose from multiple color schemes of high-visibility ULTRACOTE (=Oracover) iron-on film, give you a model that you will be proud of at the airport. The combination of all these modern elements creates a model that pushes the boundaries of modern aerobatic flying. Extreme Flight models excel in all modes of modern aerobatics, including slow low-altitude 3D aerobatics, fast and aggressive extreme aerobatics, and classic precision aerobatics.
A sports semi-scale model of a German aerobatic aircraft powered by an 85-130 cc gasoline engine for experienced pilots for flying classic precision and extreme 3D aerobatics.
The fuselage of the model is a classic construction of plywood and balsa laser-cut parts with composite reinforcements with a removable laminate engine cover and a removable upper fuselage with a cabin for perfect access to the propulsion system and RC equipment. The engine is mounted in the rear assembly on a plywood box bed; a tunnel is prepared on the underside of the fuselage for the possible installation of a tuned exhaust muffler.
The two-piece wing with a symmetrical profile (the halves slide from the side onto a carbon tube connector and are secured with a new quick-release system) is also a classic design with a solid all-balsa cover. The large-area ailerons are controlled by 2 pairs of servos. The ends of the wings can be equipped with the supplied winglets or fiberglass end arches.
The tail surfaces are lightweight all-balsa construction, the VOP is a two-piece with the stabilizer halves slid onto a carbon tube. The elevator halves are controlled by servos mounted in the horizontal stabilizer with short straight rods. The rudder is controlled by one or two standard-sized servos mounted in the tail. The entire model is covered with ULTRACOTE iron-on foil (this is the trademark used in the USA for the well-known Oracover foils).
The chassis is of the spur type with carbon main legs, wheels with laminate covers and a wire spur with a carbon console coupled to the rudder.
For propulsion you will need an 85-130 cc petrol engine (e.g. GP-123).
A nine-channel computer RC kit with at least one controller is sufficient for controlling the model - the ability to precisely adjust "paired" servos and program double and exponential deflections in the correct size is essential for aerobatic flying - both classic precision and extreme 3D.
Servos will suit fast and very strong ones in standard size - e.g. Kavan GO-1081MG, Hitec HS-7950TH, D980TW or HSB-9381TH and one standard servo for throttle control.
The kit includes: iron-on foil-coated fuselage, wing and tail surfaces, sprayed laminate engine cover, complete set of accessories, carbon chassis, spur, wheels and instructions.
