Engine ignition instructions
Insert the starter into the engine so that the ignition mixture on the igniter touches the inner wall of the fuel mixture. It is recommended to bend the igniter wires so that the ignition mixture on the igniter is springed to the inner wall of the propellant. Secure the igniter and the wires in the motor by sealing the motor.
Detailed overview of rocket engines including explanations can be found here.
Use high quality alkaline 9 volt batteries to power the starter. Conventional zinc chloride is not able to provide sufficient current to reliably ignite the igniter. To ignite the firing pin, a current of approx. 2 A is required!
