    A new generation of programmable microprocessor controllers KAVAN for brushless, sensorless AC motors, designed using the latest semiconductor technology with excellent utility properties while maintaining very simple and user-friendly operation. It is used to control the speed of AC electric motors in recreational and sports aircraft models when powered by LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe and NiCd/NiMH batteries. The controller is equipped with a powerful switched-mode power stabilizer BEC, which provides power to the receiver and servos from the drive battery. For easy controller settings, the LED programming card KAVAN Pro (also used for programming KAVAN Pro series controllers), which is sold separately.

    DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR

    • The controller is equipped with a high-performance 32-bit ARM M4 microprocessor with a clock frequency of up to 96 MHz.
    • DEO (Driving Efficiency Optimization) optimized control technology significantly improves throttle response and power stage control efficiency, reducing the temperature of the controller.
    • Suitable for the vast majority of aircraft brushless motors powered by 3–8S LiPo batteries.
    • For power supply from NiCd, NiMH, LiPo, Li-ion, LiFe batteries
    • Powerful switching power supply stabilizer BEC with selectable voltage 5.0/6.0/7.4/8.4 V and load capacity up to 10 A.
    • Adjustable timing for optimal adaptation to the engine.
    • Adjustable PCO circuit - disconnecting the motor when the supply voltage drops.
    • Normal/Soft/Very Soft start modes are suitable for both direct drive and geared motors.
    • Safe start-up (prevents the motor from starting when switched on).
    • A series of protection functions: start-up protection, controller thermal protection, capacitor thermal protection, overload protection, overcurrent protection, abnormal supply voltage protection and control signal loss protection effectively extend the life of the controller.
    • A special programming cable for connecting the controller to the KAVAN PRO LED programming card allows the user to program the controller anytime, anywhere.
    • Throttle range calibration for perfect adaptation to the control signal from your RC kit.

    PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS

    • Brake type: Brake off, normal brake (with braking intensity adjustable in 3 levels), reversal (allows you to turn on the engine's reverse operation using an additional channel with a switch, the engine's reverse speed is controlled by the throttle controller), linear reversal (allows you to turn on the engine's reverse operation using an additional channel with a proportional controller, with which the engine's reverse speed is controlled).
    • Brake force: The braking intensity is adjustable to 60, 90 or 100% for “Normal brake” mode.
    • Motor disconnection method: Soft shutdown: The controller gradually reduces the power to 60% of full power within 3 seconds after the voltage protection is activated. Hard shutdown: The motor is immediately shut down.
    • Number of LiPo cells: We recommend setting manually for 100% reliable voltage protection function. The controller automatically calculates the number of cells of the connected battery according to the rule "3.7 V per cell" if you choose automatic detection.
    • Voltage protection: The voltage protection threshold level is adjustable to 2.8 V/cell, 3.0 V/cell or 3.4 V/cell; the protection can also be turned off completely.
    • Acceleration: Determines the throttle response during a jump acceleration from 0% to 100%. Normal/Soft/Very Soft acceleration corresponds to a ramp-up time of approximately 200/500/800 ms.
    • Timing: Adjustable to 5, 15 or 25°.
    • DEO Freewheel: This feature can be turned on or off; it can provide better linearity or smoother throttle response.
    • Search mode: Can help when searching for a model that has landed in difficult terrain - the controller causes the engine to beep when the throttle is pulled to zero for a preset time.
    • BEC Voltage: Allows you to set the BEC output voltage to 5.0/6.0/7.4/8.4V.

    PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR

    • Start-up protection: The controller measures the engine speed during start-up. If the speed stops increasing or the increase is not stable, the controller will judge it as an incorrect start-up. If the throttle is less than 15% at this time, the controller will automatically try to restart the engine; if the throttle is more than 20%, you must pull the throttle control all the way down to restart the engine.
    • Thermal protection: If the controller temperature exceeds 120°C, the controller limits the output power to 60% (if soft motor shutdown is set) or shuts down the motor completely (if hard shutdown is set).
    • Loss of throttle signal: The controller will immediately shut down the engine if the signal is missing for 0.25 seconds. Once a normal signal is received, the controller will resume normal operation.
    • Overload protection: The controller will shut down the motor or restart automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value.
    • Voltage protection: When the voltage of the drive battery drops below the set threshold level, the voltage protection of the controller is triggered. The controller limits the output power to 60% (if the motor is set to soft shutdown) or switches the motor off completely (if the motor is set to hard shutdown).
    • Abnormal power supply voltage protection: If the voltage of the drive battery is not within the allowable range of the controller, the abnormal power supply voltage protection will be triggered; the controller will signal the warning by beeping the motor.

    Tip: When turning on the controller for the first time, first calibrate the throttle range according to the instructions. Only then can the controller be used and other parameters set using the transmitter or the KAVAN LED PRO programming card.
