Original information:
The successor to the T-55, the T-62, like its predecessor, was for many years the backbone of the Soviet Armored Divisions and the Warsaw Pact armored divisions. Although the new Soviet "main battle tank" was very similar to the T-55, it contained remarkable improvements in terms of armor, aiming systems, and most importantly, the main weapon system. The T-62 was actually equipped with a new 115mm high-velocity cannon with a smooth bore. Innovative at the time, he was able to use a wide range of ammunition that was able to pierce the armor of the main battle tanks deployed by the NATO alliance. The tank entered service in the early 1960s and was used in various versions by both the Soviet Union and its allies. The tank was deployed in various military conflicts from Afghanistan to the Middle East.
