Characteristics

The innovation of Spektrum Smart continues with a whole series of alternating regulators Firma for RC car models. Thanks to Smart technology, it offers a perfect overview of the state of your drive unit, with real-time telemetry for current, temperature, total battery voltage, voltage of individual battery cells, battery temperature, remaining capacity and engine speed . And without additional sensors! Smart technology ensures that all of your model aircraft's electronics work together seamlessly for maximum efficiency and performance. It offers information on the status of each system component, increasing your confidence in its capabilities and making the entire drive system easy to use. The Smart system consists of a compatible Spektrum transmitter, a Smart receiver, a Smart controller, or a Smart battery.

The controller is controlled by a modern 32-bit ARM Cortex M4 microcontroller. The controller reads information about the type, temperature and voltage of the battery cells directly from the Smart battery via the data cable. So you no longer need any sensors or modules, everything simply goes together. The information will be displayed on the transmitter display (it is necessary to have a Spektrum 2nd generation transmitter with current firmware (Spektrum DX5C, DX5R, DX5 Pro, DX6R).

Data transfer over one wire

An amazing innovation is the very simple wiring, which is a key issue especially for RC car models. Data transfer from the Smart battery to the controller is via one data wire, which is part of the IC3/IC5 connector. Data is transmitted to the receiver via the SRXL2 protocol. Of course, Spektrum Firma controllers are also backward compatible with the classic PWM signal, so you can operate the controller on the classic PWM output, but without transmitting telemetry data.

Waterproof construction*

The electronics of Spektrum Firma controllers for RC car models are completely embedded in a special potting material that prevents moisture or dirt from entering the electronics. The regulator is switched on and adjusted with the buttons that are under the rubber cover.

IC5/EC5 connector compatibility

The controllers are equipped with battery connectors of the IC5 series. When used with a Spektrum Smart battery equipped with an IC3 or IC5 connector, the controller can receive and transmit battery telemetry data. EC5 connectors are backward compatible with IC5 connectors, but you will lose the ability to load data from the accumulator.

Information about the Smart battery

When using the controller with the Spektrum Smart battery, the automatic controller reads all data from the battery. The display of the Spektrum transmitter will show you useful information such as the number of cycles, the remaining battery capacity, the voltage of individual cells.

Sophisticated design with optimized cooling

Firma regulators are fitted with a large heatsink on the top, which removes heat from the power components. Thanks to its compact dimensions, placing the controller in the model is very easy.

Wide programming options

Thanks to many adjustable parameters, you can adjust the behavior of the controller according to your requirements. Spektrum Firma controllers can be programmed in the following ways:

• Using the SET button on the controller.
  
• Using a programming card (order no. SPMXCA200).
  
• Using a Spektrum 2nd generation transmitter with a display (it is necessary to have sufficiently new firmware in the transmitter and to have a controller connected to the receiver that supports the Spektrum SRXL2 protocol).
  
• Using a computer and the Spektrum Smart Link app (the controller connects to the computer via the SPMXCA200 programming card. The app also allows you to update the controller's firmware.
