The Hobbywing Tunalyzer ac electric motor tester is an electronic device specially designed for measuring parameters such as the number of revolutions per volt ("KV"), motor speed, measuring current consumption, measuring timing (average values and individual phases), checking the functions of Hall sensors of AC motors. Measured values for AC motors with and without sensors are displayed on the touch LCD display. The Tunalyzer also works as a servo tester and, thanks to the built-in Bluetooth, allows Hobbywing speed controllers to be adjusted and their firmware updated with the help of the HW Link mobile app.
Tunalyzer enables testing of AC electric motors with and without sensors with 2-60 poles. To power the tester, you will need a 2-4S LiPo battery, which should have a capacity of at least 2000 mAh.
1. Measurement of parameters of AC motors with sensors ("sensored") and without sensors ("sensorless")
For measurements, three motor phase cables, a sensor cable (sensors for the motor) and a 2-4S LiPo power (drive) battery are connected to the Tunalyzer. The Tunalyzer will then perform the test at the selected operating voltage (7.4V or 3.4V for motors with KV >8000 or less than 4.5 turns) - either in automatic or manual mode (motor speed is controlled by a knob). Tunalyzer measures and displays:
- test voltage
- motor current
- revolutions per Volt (KV)
- mechanical timing - average and for individual phases (only for motors with sensors)
- sensor position deviation (only for motors with sensors)
- rotor magnet asymmetry (only for motors with sensors)
- Hall sensor signal deviation (only for motors with sensors)
- engine temperature (only for compatible Hobbywing engines with sensors and a temperature sensor in the engine)
2. Servo tester
Tunalyzer can serve as a servo tester - a servo signal source with pulses in the range of 1-2 ms width; the signal is set using the knob. You can thus test speed controllers, servos or other devices controlled by a standard servo signal with pulse width modulation (PWM) without an RC kit. (In this mode, the Tunalyzer is powered by the BEC connected regulator or by an external 6-8.4 V battery.)
3. Bluetooth for setting/updating speed controllers
Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth, the Tunalyzer can be used to set up compatible Hobbywing controllers (these are the ones that allow setting using the OTA module) and update their firmware with the help of the HW Link mobile application. (In this mode, the Tunalyzer is powered by the BEC of the connected controller or by an external 6-8.4 V battery if the controller does not have a BEC.)
The tester set includes: Tunalyzer, 2 power cables (3.5 mm banana/crocodile terminals - red + black), 3 phase cables (3.5 mm banana/crocodile terminals - blue + white + yellow), transport bag, instructions.
