Extremely powerful and fast programmable digital low-profile servo with AC (brushless) motor with steel gears and output shaft mounted on two ball bearings for use mainly in RWD RC drift cars 1:10. For perfect cooling even under heavy load, the servo is housed in an aluminum box.
The servo has been tested specifically for use in competition RWD specials. What sets this top model apart from other RWD servos is its exceptional power. The torque value at standard voltage values is almost double that of most servos. Thanks to this, the front wheels keep track and angle literally like nails. At the same rate of application of the angle and overhangs, the stability of the car is maintained and there is no unwanted "wobble" due to the angle being overdrawn and then coming back. Smooth operation and signal filtering from the gyro is a matter of course thanks to the AC (brushless) motor and modern software.
With the help of the USB programmer/interface for KAVAN GO servos and the operating PC program, you can program a whole range of servo parameters (deflection size, neutral centering, damping, output power, sensitivity, soft start, reverse, etc.). In addition, you will also find the option to turn on the SANWA SSR and FUTABA SR modes.
Recommendations when setting up
The basic servo setup is tailored to accommodate the widest possible range of chassis and electronics. For an optimal fit, we recommend the following procedure:
- Make sure that all related values (trim, endpoints, double yaws, etc.) on your transmitter and gyro are in their basic settings.
- If using a compatible RC kit, enable the SANWA SSR or FUTABA SR mode (it must also be enabled in the transmitter).
- Check the sense of deflections, including the gyro. If necessary, change the parameter Reversal of the direction of deviations
- Center the steering in neutral. Ideally (if your chassis allows it) using a link between the servo lever and the steering lever. If you don't have this option, center the servo in software using the Servo Neutral parameter.
- Set the maximum deflections. The maximum turn of the steering wheel to both sides should correspond to the maximum turn of the wheels of the chassis. At this angle, the stops should rest slightly on the shoulders, or the wheels should remain in a position where there is no danger of their contact with any part of the suspension. Adjust by changing the length of the servo lever, or if this is not possible, by software using the Deflection Size parameter.
- Set the Damping parameter to the minimum value that is needed to suppress knocking of the front wheels while driving.
Programmable functions
- Deflection size: Used to set the maximum size of servo deflections. The default setting is approx. 120° at the normal range of control pulse widths (900~2100 µs); approx. 180° at the maximum allowed range of control pulse width (500~2500 µs).
- Servo neutral: Used to set the neutral (center) position of the servo.
- Damping: Sets the characteristic of the behavior of the servo when stopping its movement.
- Output power: Sets the output power of the servo. The higher the value, the faster the servo and has more thrust - of course, the current draw will be proportionally higher. Range: 39.2~100%
- Sensitivity: Sets the sensitivity (width of the dead band) of the servo. The higher the value, the narrower the dead band - the servo will only move if the change in the width of the control signal is greater than the dead band width. A set sensitivity value that is too high may cause the servo to oscillate in some applications. Range: Ultra High (Extra high – dead band approx. 1 µs) – High (High – approx. 2 µs) – Medium (Medium – approx. 3 µs) – Low (Low – approx. 4 µs)
- Soft start: Enables/disables the soft start function. This function prevents the servo from suddenly moving into the operating position after switching on its power and thus limits the risk of damage to its gears.
- Reverse direction of deflections: Reverses the direction of servo deflections.
- FUTABA SR Mode: Only for servo use with FUTABA RC kit channels working in SR mode. Do not turn this option on if you are using a different setup of the FUTABA RC Kit or any other brand RC Kit.
- SANWA SSR Mode: Only for servo use with SANWA RC kit channels operating in SSR mode. Do not turn this option on if you are using a different setting of a SANWA RC kit or any other brand RC kit.
- Fail-safe emergency deviations: In the event of a complete loss of the control signal from the receiver or if the servo cannot detect the signal correctly (e.g. due to interference), the servo can go into one of three fail-safe modes:
- (a) Free: Fail-safe is disabled.
- (b) Position hold: the servo maintains the position corresponding to the last correctly received signal.
- (c) Transition to neutral: The servo returns to the neutral (pulse width 1500 µs) position.
- Overload protection: Enables or disables the servo overload protection in three levels - once the overload lasts for a preset time (in seconds), the output power of the servo is limited to the corresponding preset value (in % of max power).
- Reset: Restores the factory default settings of the connected servo.
Extended supply voltage 4.8-7.4 V (nominal); operating voltage range 4.8-8.4 V.
25 Tooth/5.92mm Hex Output Shaft.
