    Template information:

Toyota Celica is the name of a series of sport-tuned passenger cars from Toyota. The Celica model was produced between 1970 and 2006 in a total of seven significantly different generations. For many years this car was seen in motorsport. For example, Carlos Sainz with a Toyota Celica won the title of champion in Rallye twice. The vehicle was produced in sedan, liftback, coupe and convertible variants.

Four-cylinder engines power this car all the time. Perhaps the biggest conceptual change occurred in 1986, when rear-wheel drive was abandoned and front-wheel drive was introduced. Between 1986 and 1999, a version with four-wheel drive and a turbocharger was produced.

The GT-S (chassis code ST162) received a detuned version of the DOHC 2.0 L engine with a maximum output of 101 kW. The GT-S replaced the rear drum brakes with 5x100 bolt pattern disc brakes. Standard equipment in addition to the GT trim included 8-way adjustable sport bucket seats with power lumbar and side bolsters, automatic climate control, side mirror defogger, swivel spoiler, telescoping steering wheel, and 205/60-14 speed tires on 14x6-inch alloy wheels. A leather interior including gear knob, door panels and steering wheel was optional. In Canada, all GT-S models were 5-speed (S53) manual transmissions, but in the US an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission (A140E) with torque converter lockup was available. New features for 1988–1989 included illuminated headlights as standard and ABS as optional.
