GP's petrol engines produced by the Great Power Engine from Taiwan excel in excellent workmanship, robust construction with high-quality materials and, above all, the use of high quality components such as pistons, piston pins and connecting rods from subcontractors producing for motorcycle brands such as Rotax, Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki. The smooth running of the motors is ensured by SKF bearings. The motors are suitable for operation with expansion and tuned mufflers. With its sophisticated design, GP engines have achieved a very good weight / power / price ratio.

The GP-178 is an improved version of the original GP-176 engine, which, thanks to a modified piston and cylinder design, increased compression ratio, and the use of the Tillotson HT-14A carburetor, achieves 2.5 horsepower higher than GP176STD at very low vibration and improved throttle response .

The GP-178 is a flat-bladed two-cylinder engine based on the GP-88 engine, from which it has taken the 53 mm drill cylinder. The crankcase is made of a high quality aluminum alloy; the pistons are equipped with one piston ring, the connecting rod and piston pins pass through the needle bearings. The engine is fitted with high quality bearings from SKF, Sweden. The motor is mounted using a mounting plate bolted to the rear face.

The Tillotson HT-14A carburettor is a membrane, double needle, choke.

Lightweight exhaust silencers are made of aluminum and feature a silvery protective coating.

Ignition is electronic intended for supplying from accumulators with a nominal voltage of 6.6 - 7.4V. The power supply can be used as 6-p. battery NiMH (at least 1800mAh) and 2S battery LiPo (at least 1300mAh) or LiFe. The ignition is supplied with a protective spiral tube, a cable for connecting the battery and, of course, NGK CM-6 spark plugs.

Recommended fuel: run-in 32: 1 (32 parts Natural 95 petrol per 1 part oil), normal operation 40: 1 to 50: 1. We recommend using Motul 800 2T low viscosity synthetic oil for low viscosity for maximum performance.

Recommended propellers: biplane: 30x13 “, 31x12“, 32x10 “.
