Original Information:
The LC2 was built by Italian car manufacturer Lancia to participate in the World Sports Prototyping World Championship in the early 1980s. The car was characterized by a clean and elegant design that greatly contributed to the aerodynamic characteristics, and was powered by a 2.599-liter Ferrari V8 double-turbo engine (later enlarged to 3.014-liter), specially engineered by Abarth. The Lancia LC2 made its debut in 1983 and with its speed and overall driveability was able to compete with the Porsche, which at that time was the benchmark for the best racing cars. The car, however, suffered from a lower reliability, which naturally affected the results. Many Italian pilots, such as Patrese, Alboreto or Nannini, were behind the wheel of this machine before they became famous in Formula One.
