The P-51D Mustang is one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of WWII! As the first fighter aircraft, it had a unique wing with a laminar profile, thanks to which it achieved higher performance compared to other fighter aircraft of its time. As a result, many Mustangs of various versions are still flying at air shows and air races around the world today.
On October 7, 1944, American pilot Urban L. Drew - also known as "Ben" Drew - became one of only three USAAF pilots to encounter the then-new Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter during a combat mission over German territory. He was the only Allied pilot , who shot down two jets with his P-51D Mustang named "Detroit Miss". The E-flite® UMX™ P-51D Mustang is a replica of this historic aircraft, complete with a variety of mock-up details, great flight characteristics, and excellent performance.
The P-51D Mustang “Detroit Miss” model features expertly tuned AS3X electronic 3-axis stabilization and optional SAFE Select technology, the drive is compatible with 2S and 3S LiPol batteries and provides compatible Spektrum transmitters with real-time battery voltage telemetry. Thanks to its ultra-micro size, the UMX P-51 can be flown even in smaller spaces, including meadows, parks and playgrounds! Rigid undercarriage with steerable rear wheel makes it easy to taxi, take off and land on smooth surfaces, or you can remove the undercarriage and enjoy more speed and vertical performance with easy hand-off and grass landings. The model has all basic elements controlled - engine, ailerons, elevator and rudder.
The E-flite UMX P-51D RC model aircraft is equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. The AS3X function works in the background to eliminate the effects of wind and turbulence. Optionally, the SAFE Select function can be activated, which limits the tilt of the model in flight and when the cross controls are returned to neutral, the model is automatically brought into horizontal flight. The SAFE Select function can be assigned to a switch and activated only when desired. If you don't want to use SAFE Select at all, simply deactivate it according to the instructions and only the AS3X 3-axis stabilization will be active.
The UMX P-51D Mustang features exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes you look like you're flying in a much larger aircraft. Optional use of SAFE Select offers pitch and roll limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off with the flip of a switch! And if you don't want to activate the SAFE Select functions, pair the receiver in the normal way and only the AS3X 3-axis stabilization will be active.
The UMX P-51D Mustang is equipped with a Spektrum 2-in-1 control unit, which includes a Spektrum controller and receiver that provides real-time flight battery voltage telemetry to compatible Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 up to 20, iX12 up to 20 and others) in flight.
The model comes fully assembled and ready to fly in minutes! It is equipped with top-of-the-line Spektrum 2.4GHz technology. At least a 5-channel Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 transmitter is sufficient for control. You can add your own LiPol battery and you can go flying.
The UMX P-51D is one of the fastest UMX models and with a 3S LiPol 300mAh battery it has almost unlimited vertical performance. You can use a 2S LiPol battery for normal flying. An outrunner BL200 2150 rpm AC motor is installed.
You can use the solid undercarriage with steerable spur wheel for taxiing, take-off and landing on smooth surfaces. Or you can remove the landing gear for a hand launch and land on grass. The model without chassis will be even faster and more agile.
The construction of the EPS model airplane airframe is light and durable. Spare parts are available in case of an accident, small collisions can be repaired with foam glue. For greater fidelity with the original, the surface of the model is depicted with panels and inscriptions.
The operation of the model is not subject to the obligation to register the pilot on the UCL (weight does not reach 250g) and it can therefore be operated without restrictions, provided that the safety of the operation is observed.

For the normal operation of flying RC models, you need suitable adhesives, a set of tools and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our assortment, we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm Allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) and Modelcraft cutting knife with A6 pad for cutting will certainly come in handy for assembly.
For quick repair of model airplanes, we recommend the fast-curing 4-minute Epoxy glue. From our offer, we recommend Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71g
Protective packaging is intended to limit the risk associated with the transport and charging of accumulators. LiPo accumulators, while maintaining small dimensions and low weight, can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity. The LiPo battery is particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore needs to be thoroughly protected.
