The Access+ game series is specially adapted to support the correction of cognitive impairments.
Games are a tool that stimulates abilities and helps prioritize feelings of joy and shared play.

Thanks to larger cards and carefully selected events, the joy of playing can be enjoyed by everyone! Choose a theme and start playing! Create a timeline by arranging the events from the cards in the order in which they happened. An excellent (and fun!) way to practice memory and improve attention skills.

Cognitive functions used in the game When did it happen? Access+:

    Logic and Mathematics:
Players must place the events depicted on the cards in chronological order. This requires the application of mathematical knowledge, such as positive and negative integers and putting them in ascending order, and an awareness of timeline and chronological order.

Long-term memory, internal dialogue and imagination:
When playing both versions (classic and personal experiences), players must access knowledge or memories in their long-term memory (episodic and explicit) to determine where the event fits in the timeline. This immediately activates their internal dialogue as they talk to themselves about the event and try to place it in time, and/or their imagination, replaying the moments they are looking for in their mind. These mental actions allow you to decide where to place specific cards on the timeline.

    Other used cognitive functions
Throughout the game, players use their lexical field and imagination to temporarily retain the images they see and connect them to their prior knowledge. Players must also use concentration and short-term and working memory to think and analyze information. Impulsivity regulation makes it easier for them to put events in the right order. In the version of personal experiences, emotional regulation may be needed. Remembering certain events can sometimes activate related feelings. When this happens, the player must regulate the emotional impulses that arise.

Expert view: Christophe Debien - Hospital Psychiatrist:
Playing may be healing, but it is undoubtedly soothing, strengthening and developing. This is probably why games are among the many facilitation tools that we use every day when working with patients, whether to stimulate bad memory, improve impaired attention and projection skills, or revive motor skills.
