Original information:

The North American P-51 Mustang is considered one of the most iconic aircraft in the history of the USAF and is attributed the status of probably the best single-seat fighter with a piston engine of World War II. From earlier production versions, the operational use of the P-51A was limited to 1942. Its new Allison V-1710 engine was very powerful and thanks to it, the aircraft was able to reach a maximum speed of 650 km / h. The armament consisted of four 12.7 mm Browning machine guns built into the wings, which provided him with considerable firepower. Operational capabilities were further improved by the use of two additional fuel tanks suspended under the wings. The aircraft was used by the US Air Force and the British Royal Air Force under the designation Mustang Mk.II. Very quickly, they managed to achieve high operational efficiency in various roles, including air defense, bomber escort and tactical support missions.
