Information about the original:
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the best aircraft produced during World War II. It was produced from 1941 in more than 20,000 pieces and was, next to the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the most famous fighter aircraft of the Luftwaffe. In its early versions, such as the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8, the fighter was equipped with a BMW 801 D-2 two-row radial engine with 14 cylinders producing 1,700 hp, which allowed it to reach a top speed of 653 km/h. Over time, the designers capitalized on the successful aerodynamic design of the airplane and achieved what can be considered its final development. The adoption of the powerful liquid-cooled twelve-cylinder Junkers Jumo 213 engine necessitated a revision of the aircraft's design, which resulted in an elongated nose. The D version was aptly nicknamed "Langnasen-Dora" (Long-nosed Dora) by Luftwaffe pilots, but once it was in flight they immediately appreciated its characteristics and capabilities. The FW-190D was indeed able to compete equally with the most modern Allied fighters, such as the famous P-51D Mustang.
