Boeing CH-47 Chinook is one of the most famous heavy helicopters in the history of military aviation. Notable is its design with a pair of giant rotors, one in front of the cabin and the other in the rear. This machine was developed specifically to meet the needs of the US Army in which it was supposed to replace the obsolete H-21 as the main carrier. Chinook is produced in several versions and is used by a number of states around the world. Besides the United States, the British Royal Air Force has the largest fleet of Chinooks. Their machines, in version HC.1, based on the CH-47C, have been involved in various conflicts, such as the Falklands, the Balkans, Iraq or Afghanistan.
