Model Information:

The Sherman Firefly is an excellent choice for someone who wants functionality within a kit. Designed in 1:35 scale, the tower is fully poseable, including movable wheels and tracks, which are also separately connectable.



As Allied troops began to move from the D-Day beaches into the Normandy landscape, they knew they would face strong resistance from German tank units, including the dreaded heavy tank battalions.



Fortunately, they now had a tank capable of taking on the Tigers and Panthers in the form of the Sherman Firefly, a combination of the British-built M4 Sherman and their famous 17-gauge anti-tank gun.



They were usually deployed at a ratio of one Firefly to four standard Shermans, but German tank commanders soon learned to seek out the longer-barreled Firefly and try to knock these tanks out first.



To make identification more difficult, the British crews camouflaged the front of their guns with light paint, making their tank look like a standard Sherman equipped with a 75mm gun, hoping that this deception would give them enough time to fire the first shot during an eventual engagement.
