The GYD550 is a lightweight programmable two-mode micro gyro with an integrated MEMS sensor specially developed for controlling and stabilizing the control of drifting car models with the possibility of remote gain control and switching of operating modes with the help of a transmitter. It has the option of setting a number of parameters with the help of a button and LED on the gyro or directly in the menu of compatible Futaba transmitters (T7PXR, T4PM with the latest firmware version) and is equipped with an input S.BUS / S.BUS2 port. Gyro activity is indicated by an LED indicator.

Three operating modes (switched by remote gain control: signal -110% ~ 0% Normal mode, -0% gyro off, 0% ~ + 110% AVCS mode)

  • Normal - Mode of operation of the classic gyro; the gyro suppresses the unwanted deviation only until the movement in the stabilized axis stops. The gyro thus dampens the undesired steering deviation, but does not detect that the model returns to the original direction of travel.
  • AVCS (Heading Hold ) - In AVCS mode, the gyro not only stops unwanted movement in the stabilized axis, but is able to return the model to its original direction of travel, so stabilizing the model's steering is much more effective.
  • Gyro off - Stabilization is off, only you control the model.

Both stabilization modes can have their advantages in different driving modes and piloting styles; thanks to the possibility of remote switching, you have the option of selecting the optimal operating mode with the optimal gain value individually for each driving mode.

Remote profit control

Using one channel of the RC kit for remote gain control, the gyro gain can be adjusted with the help of a transmitter. This allows you to have the optimum gain value programmed on the transmitter for each driving mode of the model.

Programmable parameters (directly on gyro or compatible Futaba transmitter)

  • Servo type - Normal digital or SR mode (only with compatible servos and Futaba RC kits)
  • Gyro Response Sense - Specifies the gyro response sense. < / li>
  • Neutral - Sets the neutral position of the steering servo.
  • Steering Deflection Limit - Allows you to set the maximum steering servo deflection limit to the right and left. This ensures that the servo and steering mechanism do not go beyond the mechanical limits of the possible range of motion.
  • Gyro vibration damping - Reduces gyro vibration and fine-tunes the steering response (adjustable in 8 steps, separately for Normal and AVCS modes)
  • Reset to default settings

Other parameters programmable on a compatible Futaba transmitter

  • Gyro setting profiles - Switchable gyro parameter setting files that can be switched together with switching driving modes. (only with T7PXR)
  • Gyro Response Mode - Sets the gyro response speed in 3 steps
  • Gyro Gain Mode - Allows you to further increase the gyro gain if the setting range on the transmitter is insufficient.
  • Gyro Damping Point - Adjusts the servo response to the gyro damping effect.
  • Gain steering control - Used to set the degree of influence of driver intervention in the steering on the operation of the gyro.
  • Steering Speed - Sets the steering servo speed.
  • Stern Slip Speed - Sets the speed at which the rear of the car skids while driving.
  • Steering Gain Curve - Allows you to set the steering gain curve at eight points from neutral to the endpoints of the deviations. (only with T7PXR)

Connection to the receiver

The gyro can be connected to a classic receiver with PWM channel outputs for individual servos (control channel + gain control channel) or to the S.BUS / S.BUS2 serial output of the receiver - in that case a single cable is enough.

Compatible servos

Gyro can work exclusively with digital servos (for 4.8 V and HV power supply up to 8.4 V). When using a compatible transmitter (Futaba T7PX / T7PXR / T7XC / T4PM) and receiver (Futaba R334SBS / R334SBS-E), it allows the use of Futaba digital servos in SR mode with extremely fast response. / p>

The gyro set contains: gyro GYD550, double-sided foam adhesive tape for fixing the gyro, connecting cables, miniature screwdriver, operating instructions.
