Extreme Flight aerobatic models are loosely based on real aircraft, with the designer taking the liberty of making a number of modifications to create a model with a unique appearance and flight performance. The lightweight construction, based on balsa and plywood parts, uses carbon and glass composite materials generously - and in the right places - to achieve high strength and stiffness of the airframe at minimal weight. The result is a robust model capable of handling a wide range of aerodynamic loads, yet light enough to achieve low surface loads.
The kit includes tuning winglets, or Side Force Generators (SFG), which increase the effective side area of the model, making knife flight and other turns that depend on the "authority" of the rudder easier and more stable. These winglets also make the model more stable during high-angle-of-attack turns (harriers). We highly recommend that you mount them on your model and experiment with them.
The perfectly sprayed laminate engine cover and aerodynamic wheel covers, as well as the ability to choose from multiple color schemes of the high-visibility ULTRACOTE (=Oracover) iron-on film, will give you a model that you will be rightly proud of at the airport. The combination of all these modern elements creates a model that pushes the boundaries of modern aerobatic flying. Extreme Flight models excel in all modes of modern aerobatics, including slow 3D aerobatics at low altitude, fast and aggressive extreme aerobatics and classic precision aerobatics.
Sports semi-scale model of an American aerobatic aircraft powered by a 50-60cc gasoline engine or a 4kW AC electric motor for experienced pilots for flying classic precision and extreme 3D aerobatics.
The fuselage of the model is a classic construction of plywood and balsa laser-cut parts with composite reinforcements with a removable laminate engine cover and a removable upper fuselage with a cabin for perfect access to the propulsion system and RC equipment. The engine is mounted in the rear assembly on a plywood box bed; a tunnel is prepared on the underside of the fuselage for the possible installation of a tuned exhaust muffler.
The two-piece wing with a symmetrical profile (the halves are slid from the side onto a carbon tube connector and secured with a new CNC quick-release system) is also a classic design with an all-balsa rigid cover. The large-area ailerons are controlled by 2 independent servos. You can equip the ends of the wings with the supplied winglets.
The tail surfaces are lightweight all-balsa construction, the VOP is two-piece with stabilizer halves slid onto a carbon tube. The elevator halves are controlled by servos mounted in the horizontal stabilizer with short straight rods; the rudder is controlled by cable drives with a servo mounted in the cabin or in the tail of the model with a short straight rod. The entire model is covered with ULTRACOTE iron-on film (this is the trademark used in the USA for the well-known Oracover films).
The chassis is of the spur type with carbon main legs, wheels with laminate covers and a wire spur with a carbon console coupled to the rudder.
For propulsion, you will need a 50-60cc gasoline engine (e.g. GP-61, O.S. GT-60) or a 4kW AC electric motor (e.g. Xpwr 40cc) with at least a 120A speed controller powered by a 12S LiPo battery 4500-5000 mAh with a load capacity of at least 40C.
A seven-channel computer RC kit is sufficient to control the model - the possibility of precise adjustment of "paired" servos and programming double and exponential deflections in the right size is essential for flying aerobatics - both classic and precise and extreme 3D.
The servos are fast and very strong in standard size - e.g. Kavan GO-1081MG, GO-1088MGW, Hitec HS-7950TH, D980TW, HSB-9381TH or Savöx SB-2290SG and one standard servo for throttle control.
The kit includes: iron-on foil-coated fuselage, wing and tail surfaces, sprayed laminate engine cover, complete set of accessories, carbon chassis, spurs, wheels and instructions.
