In 1916, Geoffrey de Havilland, the DH-4, succeeded in a famed trick, which he repeated successfully with Mosquito in World War II - to construct a lightweight bomber who was so fast and skilled that he could successfully track with one-man fighters after a bomb. And many have surpassed - for example, on October 14, 1918, the US Marines Ralph Talbot, with only one DH-4, shot down two and fired 10 other German fighters Fokker D.VII, which gave him the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest honor for the courage of the enemy. The DH-4 and later refined DH-9 (with seating closer to each other for easier communication and better interplay) have created the standard for a light bomber to look like, which has been in effect until the mid-1930s. A biplane with one or two fixed synchronized machine guns for the pilot, a simple or twin moving machine gun in the circle for the observer, the bombs hung under the hull, and the lower wing ... de Havillandy were built massively in the UK and even larger in the US where they became the most important combat aircraft of the newly-built aviation. After the war, their development continued - for example, the DH-50 with a closed cabin for 4 passengers was built on the license (the pilot sat in an open cockpit to "not lose feelings for flying").
The American DUMAS Aircraft kit is an ideal modeling machine, which has at least basic experience with the construction of small models powered by rubber harness or gliders and RC model piloting with a rudder and elevator. You will be refined in the construction of the "fuselage" frame of the fuselage and wings, paper coating and varnishing - thanks to highly pre-machined laser-cut parts like butter.
RC model of the British light biplane biplane designed for electric motor drive." The model is a simple classical all-metal construction in a splinter with laser-carved wooden parts, mock-ups of vacuum-molded plastic, plastic parts made by injection molding and metal. The fuselage is designed by common miniaturization technology from side walls glued by balsa beams, which are joined by semipreparations and rails into the truss frame. The resulting shapes are obtained by gluing several additional longitudinal members. The wings are classical constructions made of beams and ribs, tail surfaces of balsa strips and laser-carved parts. The small "scraper" is the production of tailpiece peripheral parts and wing arches of wet laminated balsa strips. This gives you surprisingly strong and very light parts - and without the use of carbon! Drawings of the required templates can be found in the manual again. You can cover the entire model with the paper supplied in the kit or a suitable lightweight, low-shrinkage film, such as Airspan or Litespan.
The DH-4 is designed to drive a small DC motor with a gearbox - for example, a GWS drive that is plotted on the plan. Nowadays you probably choose a small AC motor - in which case you will need to re-engineer the engine bed (add a new 2mm birch plywood engine partition), but that should not be a more serious problem. For easy flying, an AXI 2208 electric motor and a 800 mAh Li-poly are available. It is recommended not to exaggerate "driving" - it is a park-flyer, not a rocket.
The kit includes: balsa laser carved parts, balsa beams, vacuum-molded parts (motor cover ...), clear plastic windshield foil, steel strings for the chassis and other small parts, plastic wheels, colored overlay paper, .
