The M4 Sherman (official designation of the US Army Medium Tank, M4) was the most famous American tank in World War II and shortly after. It was named by British troops after US General Sherman. With almost 50,000 pieces produced, it was the second most numerous tank of the war, surpassed only by the Russian T-34. In addition to deploying in the US military, it was supplied to other powers defying Germany under the loan and lease program: More than a third of all Shermans produced traveled to the British army, four thousand to the Soviet Union. During the first battles, Sherman was better armed and armored than any German tanks, against the most widespread machines Panzerkampfwagen IV and Sturmgeschütz III remained effective until the end of the war, but he could not compete with the heaviest enemy tanks.

Sherman was based on the earlier American M3 tank, but unlike his predecessor, he carried a 75mm cannon in the tower, not in the hull. The first prototype was completed on September 2, 1941 and still retained the side hatch from the M3 tank, which was, however, removed for series production. The final design model T6 became standardized as M4 and in October 1941 began its production.

During the war, the M4 tank underwent several changes. Some models replaced the original 75mm M3 cannon with a 105 mm howitzer, later machines were often armed with a 76mm M1 cannon, British troops were sometimes equipped with a powerful anti-tank gun Ordnance QF 17 pounder called Sherman Firefly. In addition to the standard variants, special versions were produced in small quantities, such as the amphibious Shermans DD, which were used during the landings in Normandy, T34 missile carriers Calliope or versions with equipment for destroying minefields.

The Shermans remained in American armaments long after World War II, the M4A3 model was deployed in the Korean War, where it complemented heavier M26 Pershing tanks and more modern M46 Patton machines. They had an even longer life in the armies of other states, for example the Israeli Defense Forces used improved variants of the M51 Sherman in the Six Day War in 1967 and remained in their arsenal until the 1980s.

The battle premiere of the Shermans was the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942, where they did well against German and Italian tanks. As the most numerous American tank fought on all fronts of the war, it received an important commitment during the liberation of France and the Benelux and in the Battle of the Bulge.

M4 tanks were used by the American and Soviet armies during the liberation of Czechoslovakia in 1945. Pilsen is one of the most famous cities liberated by M4 tanks. The Red Army used M4 tanks, for example, during the liberation of Brno. In 2015, there were three copies of the M4 Sherman tank in the Czech Republic. One is on display in the Pilsen Zoo, the other two in the Lešany Military Museum.

True to detail in 1:16 scale

Weighing around five kilograms, the M4A3 Sherman 76mm is ideal for the discerning customer. In the professional edition, it is characterized by excellent airbrush color quality, 2.4 GHz printed circuit board technology and a new speaker. This model has excellent driving characteristics, a wide range of functions and realistic sound. High quality belts, drive and guide wheels with rollers, as well as the lower fuselage and turret are made of metal. Many small parts and various stickers perfectly complete the replica of the faithful scale.

    Controls and functions

The powerful tank model has 2.4 GHz RC control. The vehicle is equipped with the BB Airosft system, so battles are possible as in real combat. Engines with optimized torque give the Sherman 76mm a precise and smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and improved transmission ensure greater performance. Thanks to the proportional control, you can approach the tank very slowly and gradually increase your speed. Sherman 76mm moves forwards and backwards, also with turning left and right. It can also be turned left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the cannon and rotate the turret 360 degrees. The realistic experience is completed by various engine sounds and smoke from the exhaust.
