Panther F was a planned modification of Panther V
Panzerkampfwagen The Panther (SdKfz 171) was a German tank manufactured between 1943 and 1945. It represented the German reaction to the Soviet tank T-34/76. He surpassed it both in the strength of the armor and especially in the performance and accuracy of the 7.5 cm KwK 42 L / 70 cannon, but this lead was soon largely caught up with the new version of the T-34/85. The Panther is generally considered one of the best medium tanks of World War II.
Its development began as a result of the experience of the German army on the Eastern Front. There, German tanks encountered Soviet medium tanks T-34 and heavier KV-1, which in many ways surpassed the German "Panzers". Even the later deployed Pz IVF with a long cannon could not be sure of victory in the fight against opponents. German tanks were weakly armored compared to Soviet technology, and the armor plates were almost perpendicular, which greatly reduced their ballistic resistance.
The development of a new medium tank was entrusted to the company MAN, headed by the main designer Ing. Paul Wiebicki. Already 17 weeks after the start of work on the project, on February 3, 1942, she produced the first prototype of the Panther tank. The hull and turret had a welded construction of steel plates. The hexagonal tower was located near the center of gravity, rotating with the crew seats, either hydraulically or manually in the event of failure. There was a circular escape hole in the back of the tower's armor. Periscopes, a fan and a command tower were placed on top. The front of the tower had a thickness of 80 to 110 mm, the sides 45 mm. The front fuselage was protected by armor 60 to 80 mm thick, the effectiveness of which increased the inclination at an angle of 35 ° from the vertical. The side and rear walls of the hull carried 40-50 mm of armor. The bottom of the hull and the top of the tower were 16 mm thick. The chassis consisted of eight wheels, a tensioner and a drive wheel in two rows. The strips consisted of 86 links and their width was 660 mm. The tank was well sprung and provided great comfort for that time. The armament consisted of a 75 mm cannon 7.5 cm KwK 42 L / 70 equipped with a muzzle brake and two MG 34 machine guns. The first 250 pieces of the Panther tank were powered by a twelve-cylinder petrol engine Maybach HL 210 P30 (the same was used for Tiger tanks) (650 hp) at 3000 rpm and had three simple air filters. From May 1943, however, the Panthers were fitted with a twelve-cylinder Maybach HL 230 P30 with a capacity of 23.1 liters, which already had a power of 515 kW (700 hp). To save material, the engine block made in HL 210 from aluminum was replaced by a cast iron block. Two multi-stage "cyclone" air filters were used to improve dust removal. Despite the quality of the powertrain design, engine power had to be reduced by using low quality gasoline. With a tank with a capacity of 730 liters of fuel, the range of the tank was 200 km on fixed roads and only 120 km in the field.
The prototype was tested at the Berka test site in Eisenach, Thuringia. As early as June 1942, Albert Speer, Minister of Economy of the Third Reich, ordered the production of a 250-piece series at the Man, Daimler-Benz, Henschel and MNH plants. The first serial machines came to the units in January 1943.
True to detail in 1:16 scale
Weighing around six kilograms, the Panther F is ideal for the discerning customer. In the professional edition, it is characterized by excellent airbrush color quality, 2.4 GHz printed circuit board technology and a new speaker. This model has excellent driving characteristics, a wide range of functions and a realistic sound. High quality belts, drive and guide wheels with rollers, as well as the lower part of the fuselage and the turret are made of metal. Many small parts and various stickers perfectly complete the replica of the faithful scale / p>
Controls and functions
The powerful tank model has 2.4 GHz RC control. The vehicle is equipped with an IR battle system, so battles with vehicles from the same series are possible. Engines with optimized torque give the Panther F a precise and smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and improved transmission ensure greater performance. Thanks to the proportional control, you can approach the tank very slowly and gradually increase your speed. The Panther F moves forwards and backwards, also with left and right turns. It can also be turned left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the cannon and rotate the turret 360 degrees. The realistic experience is completed by various engine sounds, barrel recoil, barrel flash and exhaust smoke.
