During the 1980s, the "Paris-Dakar" was one of the most important events of the year for all fans of two- and four-wheel machines. In the middle of this decade, the German manufacturer BMW created a unique line of the famous R80 GS motorcycle designed especially for this prestigious off-road race. The standard version chassis was a great foundation on which to build in Munich, as customers greatly appreciated its strength, durability and reliability. BMW also added several other modifications and improvements. In addition to technical innovations that have improved the motorcycle's off-road and endurance capabilities, such as tires, bar reinforcements and some specific protective elements, the biggest change was the huge, 32-liter fuel tank developed specifically for this racing model. BMW also paid attention to the design, in which it reached for its famous three colors - blue, purple and red. The production of this motorcycle ran from 1984 to 1987 only in limited quantities and to this day it is a machine highly valued by all collectors and fans of one track.
