Original information:
Macchi MB-326 was developed in the fifties of the last century to equip the "Stormi" training of the Italian Air Force. The initial units of the new two-seater Macchi low-altitude simulator were delivered in 1961 and immediately proved to be a technically excellent aircraft with good flight and operational characteristics. It was easily recognizable by the two air intakes mounted on the wings next to the fuselage and was equipped with a British jet engine Bristol Siddeley Viper. The MB-326 was delivered to provide an advanced training program for the Italian Air Force, which played this important role for several years before being replaced by the more modern MB-339. It has also achieved significant worldwide commercial success and has been sold in more than 10 countries. Indeed, it has become one of the most popular aircraft manufactured by the Italian aviation industry. The MB-326 could also be rebuilt to have two 12.7 mm machine guns mounted, with an attack load of support rockets and bombs.
