The Sd.Kfz 250 was developed based on the Wehrmacht's requirements for the development of the construction of semi-tracked transport units. In order to speed up the development, the chassis group of the unarmored vehicle Demag D7 (Sd.Kfz 10) was used. An armored superstructure was constructed for this by the Büssing company. It was welded from armor plates connected to each other at significant angles. The superstructure had a hexagonal shape. The first prototype was built in 1939. The machine, verified by demanding tests, was mass-produced in 1941. Mass production of the Sd.Kfz 250 version, later called the Alte Ausführung, ran throughout 1942 and part of 1943. In 1943, the Sd.Kfz version began to be produced 250 Neue Ausführung with a different body shape. In total, almost 6,000 of these excellent machines were produced in many variants. Sd.Kfz 250 fought in the front line until the end of World War II. They were deployed on the Eastern and Western fronts, and some of the machines also fought in Africa. After the war, they were briefly used in several armies, including the Czechoslovak one.
The Sd.Kfz 250 kit is very detailed and offers three Wehrmacht machines in different types of camouflage.
