Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning II is a 5th generation single-engine single-seat fighter developed in three different variants, each featuring extremely low observability and superior connectivity: the F-35A with conventional take-off and landing (CTOL), the F-35B with short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) and F-35C intended for deployment on aircraft carriers. The aircraft have been delivered since 2015. The F-35C has larger wings and a horizontal stabilizer than other F-35 variants, and folding wingtips for carrier-based design, as well as greater fuel capacity and reinforced nose landing gear with twin tires that give it helps withstand impact when landing on an aircraft carrier, as well as a launch pad for catapult-assisted takeoffs.
