The Spektrum Smart innovation continues with Avian's comprehensive range of aviation AC controllers. Thanks to Smart technology, it offers a perfect overview of the status of your power unit, current, temperature, total battery voltage, voltage of individual battery cells, battery temperature, remaining capacity and motor speed are available to you via real-time telemetry. And without additional sensors! Smart technology ensures that all the electronics in your aircraft model work together seamlessly for maximum efficiency and performance. It provides information on the status of each component of the system, increases your confidence in its capabilities and makes the entire drive system easy to use. The Smart system consists of a compatible Spektrum transmitter, Smart receiver, Smart controller, or Smart battery.
The controller is controlled by a modern 32-bit ARM Cortex M4 microcontroller. The smart battery controller reads information about the type, temperature and voltage of the cells directly from the battery via the data cable. So you no longer need any sensors or modules, everything is simply put together. The information will be displayed on the transmitter display (it is necessary to have a 2nd generation Spectrum transmitter (Spectrum DX6e, DX6, DX7, DX8e, DX8 G2, DX9, DX10t, DX18, iX12, iX20).
Single wire data transmission
An amazing innovation for transmitting telemetry data to the system when using a Spektrum Smart battery (speed, temperature, battery voltage and remaining capacity) is the absence of telemetry sensors. Data from the battery is read via the data cable. Data is transmitted to the receiver via the SRXL2 protocol. Of course, the Spektrum Avian controllers are backward compatible with a classic PWM signal, so you can also operate the controller on a classic PWM output.
IC / EC connector compatibility
The controllers are equipped with IC series battery connectors. When used with a Spektrum Smart battery equipped with an IC3 or IC5 connector, the controller can receive and transmit battery telemetry data. The EC3 and EC5 connectors are backward compatible with the IC3 and IC5 connectors, but you will lose the ability to read data from the battery.
Smart battery information
When using the controller with a battery, the Spektrum Smart controller automatically reads all data from the battery. The display of the Spectrum transmitter will show you useful information, such as the number of cycles, the remaining battery capacity, the voltage of individual cells.
Easy installation of the controller
Avian controllers are in a plastic box. You can either screw the controller into the model or you can stick it on both sides with adhesive tape. There is a large cooling hole on the top.
Wide range of programming options
Thanks to many adjustable parameters, you can adjust the behavior of the controller according to your requirements. Avian controllers can be programmed in the following ways:
- Using the programming card (order no. SPMXCA200).
- Using a 2nd generation Spektrum transmitter (it is necessary to have sufficiently new firmware in the transmitter and to have the controller connected in a receiver supporting the Spektrum SRXL2 protocol).
- Using a computer and the Spektrum Smart Link application (the controller connects to the computer via the SPMXCA200 programming card. The application also allows you to update the controller firmware.
