Design of brushless motors 1406
Castle introduces a completely new range of sensor motors. The advantage is especially high efficiency and when using the sensor controller it is fine to use from zero speed . Sensor motors can also be recommended for slow-moving models, such as crawlers or expeditionary RC car models.
The stator (fixed outer part of the motor) is composed of mutually insulated iron sheets 0.2 mm thick. The stator winding is impregnated against moisture and is defined by a special potting compound. The winding outlets consist of massive tapes, on which you can solder the outlets in the optimum direction - according to the model.
The rotor (rotating internal part of the motor) is made of a hardened steel shaft in which the neodymium magnets are glued. For added strength, the rotor is encased in a Kevlar fabric and two-component glue. Another set of 4 magnets is used to measure the rotor position. The rotor is defined between the bearings by a leaf spring in the form of a ring.
There are high quality ball bearings in the aluminum fronts, Hall sensors detecting the rotor position and a temperature sensor for measuring the internal temperature of the motor.
Key Features of Castle 1406 Brushless Motors
- The Castle 1406 motors are identical in size to the 540 series DC motors
- Due to the absence of a commutator, the life of the brushless motor is determined only by bearings, which can be replaced
- Sensor design, integrated temperature sensor
- Impregnated winding resistant to moisture, sensors are embedded in a special potting compound
- Very thin stator surfaces for high efficiency
- Large solder pads for easy soldering
- The rotor is braided with Kevlar fabric.
Sidewinder 4 regulator
Castle Creation Sidewinder 4 incorporates revolutionary Cryo-Drive technology. Of course there is a waterproof construction, sensorless design for maximum ease of operation and of course a wide range of settings, as is customary in Castle Creations products.
Cryo-Drive technology
The biggest losses occur during switching on and off of power transistors. Castle Creations has developed a brand new software that reduces the switching frequency of power transistors. The result is a radical reduction in heat loss in both the controller and the motor itself, increasing efficiency and ultimately increasing travel time.
Another innovation is the optimization of the radiator shape. The developers of Castle Creations have created a whole new fin fin that uses heat flow simulation programs to efficiently transfer heat to the flowing air. As a result, they managed to reduce the size of the entire controller and use a standard 30 mm cooler. The Sidewinder 4 controller is very similar in size to the popular Castle Sidewinder 3 controller family.
