In the 1960s, Mercedes-Benz began developing a range of sports cars that were characterized by high performance and at the same time great attention to aspects that would meet the demands of the expanding "luxury" car sector. The abbreviation SL (Sport and Leicht) refers to the various models that have been developed and marketed over the years. In the 1970s, this German automobile group launched the R107 and C107 model series in Roadster and Coupé versions, which quickly became a significant commercial success. The C107 model evolved into the highest model in the series – the SLC 500 coupe, whose production ran for almost ten years. With an engine of 4973 cc and 237 horsepower, the Mercedes SLC 500 became the benchmark of excellence for the "premium" market, which in the 70s gave birth to several iconic models that still excite the imagination and dreams of many collectors and lovers of classic cars.
