The second line of the Ford Escort was introduced in 1975. Compared to the first series that debuted at the Motor Show in Brussels in January 1968, there was considerable progress. She used the reliable mechanical components of her predecessor, but she got a brand new, angular design that kept her pace with the aesthetic and stylistic trends of the 1970s. The new product line was very wide, with three types of bodywork (two-door, four-door and three-door combos), five types of engines and a large selection of settings and configurations. The new Escort was manufactured mainly in the German Ford Group factories and achieved good sales success. In addition to the classic version, the Escort Sport version also featured a more aggressive appearance and distinctive sports interior. For the Escort to compete successfully with rivals in the Rally World Championship, Ford also produced a racing special, the RS 1800, which symbolically completed the entire product line. This car has achieved really good results. The team of Waldegard Björn - Thorszelius Hans took second place in the world-famous Rally Monte Carlo in 1979 and eventually won the entire World Championship. The Motorsport Team has also achieved excellent results with its second team, which was created by Mikkola Hanna and Hertz Arnee, and who ranked fifth in Monaco in 1979.
