Smart™ technology

The exclusive Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart ESC provides a range of real-time telemetry data, including motor RPM, current draw, flight battery voltage and more, via a compatible Spektrum receiver and transmitter equipped with Spektrum AirWare™ technology (DX6e, DX8e, DX6 G2/3, DX8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX20 and more) during flight.

Plug-N-Play version

The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes with a factory-installed power system and servos ready to connect to a compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately), plus a transmitter and batteries you supply (also sold separately). Simply install the receiver, complete the final assembly, and you're ready to fly!

Universal drive

The factory-installed Spektrum Avian brushless motor is compatible with 4S to 6S LiPo batteries and offers a wide range of performance - from normal flying and basic aerobatics on a 4S LiPo with the included 15x10"E propeller, to much greater power and more complex aerobatics on a 6S LiPo battery with the included 14x7"E propeller (batteries not included)! In addition, the practical top cover with magnetic locking makes it easy to install and remove common and popular 3200–5000 mAh batteries.

Wooden airplane kite

The balsa and plywood (lite-ply) airframe is lightweight, yet stiff and strong. Most parts are factory assembled and finished, including a genuine UltraCote finish. The PNP version also includes durable, factory-installed Spektrum A6380 metal digital servos. In the event that you damage any part of the airframe and are unable to repair it, a full range of spare parts are available.

Easy assembly

The PNP version of the J-3 Cub comes with a factory-installed power system and servos. No glue is required for final assembly, so the model can be ready to fly in a matter of hours.

Detailed processing

A large upper canopy with windshield, transparent windows, seats and a pilot bust complete the scale model look, along with wing struts, tailplane cables and other details.

Chassis options

The package includes a chassis with standard wheels, chassis covers, and Cub wheel covers. You can also install optional DU-BRO Treaded Lightweight Cub Wheels (sold separately) or optional round wheel covers (sold separately). Or you can install optional silver floats (sold separately) and custom strut kits (sold separately) for flying on large ponds or lakes.

Wing options

Optional wings (sold separately) with a shorter span of 1.7m are available, offering different handling and improved aerobatic capabilities. You also have the option of applying black "starburst" decals (sold separately) to the wings and tail.

To power the model, we recommend a LiPol battery with 4-6 cells (14.8–22.2V).

Smart G2 batteries are even simpler and safer, thanks to the absence of a balance connector. G2 batteries also have up to 3x faster automatic discharge to storage mode. Smart G2 batteries can only be charged on Spektrum Smart chargers.

If you decide to use modern Smart LiPo batteries in your RC model airplanes or helicopters, or to charge your batteries from other manufacturers, then we recommend these chargers:

Accessories for normal operation

For normal operation of flying RC models you need suitable adhesives, a tool kit and a storage case for LiPol batteries. From our range we recommend a quality set of 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0mm Allen screwdrivers and Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (set of 6). For assembly, Modelcraft mini pliers in a case (set) will certainly come in handy, and for cutting, Modelcraft cutting knife with A6 washer.

For quick repairs of aircraft models, we recommend a fast-curing 4-minute Epoxy glue. From our offer, we recommend Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71g

Protective covers for batteries

Protective packaging is designed to reduce the risk associated with transporting and charging batteries. LiPo batteries can provide high discharge currents and have a large capacity while maintaining small dimensions and low weight. LiPo batteries are particularly susceptible to mechanical damage and therefore need to be carefully protected.
