Original information:
The Heinkel He-111 medium bomber formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe's bomber squadrons during the initial stages of World War II. It was powered by a pair of engines, as with many other contemporary aircraft of a similar concept, but it was also characterized by a number of innovative solutions, such as an all-metal frame. Thanks to the Jumo 211 engines, it was able to reach a maximum speed of 440 km / h and carried up to 2,000 kg of bombs in the internal bomb bay. The He-111 was easily recognizable by its typical all-glass nose, wings and rudder profile. The Luftwaffe used it in large numbers, especially in 1940 in the Battle of Britain. Over the following years, the Germans tried to constantly improve and modernize it, but in the later stages of the war it was still an obsolete machine.
