Information about the original:

The early years of World War II showed the inadequacy of Italian medium tanks for use in modern warfare, which featured engagements between heavily armed and heavily armored tanks, as well as the use of more effective and lethal anti-tank weapons. Based on a detailed analysis of German and enemy British and Soviet military vehicles, a heavy, 26-ton tank was created. This new machine, which has undergone several design changes over time, received more modern features such as sloping front panels, a more powerful 420 hp diesel engine and a more suitable main weapon, the Ansaldo 75/34 cannon. The P26/40, as the new machine was forever known, unfortunately retained some outdated features that had been characteristic of Italian armored vehicle production since the mid-1930s, namely the riveting of the armor plates and the leaf spring suspension system.
