The Me-323 "Gigant" was one of the largest transport aircraft built during World War II. It was developed to meet the specific requirements of the Luftwaffe for transporting troops and material over long distances, which were determined after the expansion of supply lines. It was originally developed from a glider and was equipped with six radial engines located on the leading edge of the wing, which were able to provide sufficient power for flight operations with full load. The huge fuselage was able to transport troops - more than 120 men - supplies, artillery and light vehicles. Its large carrying capacity limited its maximum speed, which only slightly exceeded 240 km/h. It was used on the North African and Tunisian fronts to supply the Afrika Korps from bases in Sicily, as well as on the Russian front. It is considered a milestone in the history of transport aircraft.
