    Template information:

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria and sold under by the Mercedes-Benz brand. Originally developed as an all-terrain vehicle for the military, more luxurious models were gradually added to the range. In some markets it was sold under the Puch brand as the Puch G until 2000.

The G-Wagen features an angular design and body-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, a unique feature in passenger vehicles. Although a planned successor, the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class unibody SUV, was introduced in 2006, the G-Class is still in production and is among the longest-running models in Daimler's history at 45 years. It is surpassed only by the Unimog model. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz introduced the second generation W463 with a significantly redesigned chassis, power unit, body and interior. In 2023, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to launch a smaller version of the G-Class, dubbed the "little G", without a specific launch date.

The 400,000th unit was produced on December 4, 2020. The success of the second generation W463 led to the milestone of 500,000 units produced three years later, in April 2023. The 500,000th model was a special one-off car with agave green paint, a black front and orange turn signals, a tribute to the iconic 1979 press release photo of the W460 240 GD.
