103" Slick 540 ARF - Red/Blue

Sports semi-model of aerobatic aircraft powered by a 100-130 cc gasoline engine for experienced pilots to fly classic precise and extreme 3D acrobatics.

The fuselage of the model is a classic construction of plywood and balsa laser cut parts reinforced with Kevlar® and carbon with a removable laminate engine cover and a removable upper fuselage with a cabin for perfect access to the propulsion system and RC equipment. The engine mounts in a rear mount on a plywood box bed; a tunnel on the underside of the fuselage is prepared for possible installation of a tuned muffler.

The two-piece wing with a symmetrical profile (the halves slide from the side onto the carbon tube coupling and secure with screws) is also a classic all-balsa rigid skin construction. Wings with a large area are controlled by 2 pairs of servos.

The tail surfaces are light all-balsa construction, the VOP is two-part with stabilizer halves pushed onto the carbon tube. The elevator halves are controlled by servos stored in the horizontal stabilizer with short straight rods. The steering wheel is controlled by a cable drive (it is also removable for easier transport/storage).

The entire model is coated with ULTRACOTE® iron-on foil (this is the trade mark used in the USA for the well-known Oracover® foils).

The chassis is a spur type with carbon main legs, wheels with laminate covers and a wire spur with a carbon bracket mated to the turn signal.

You will need a 100-130 cc petrol engine (eg GP-123) for propulsion.

At least a nine-channel computer RC set is suitable for controlling the model - the ability to accurately set "paired" servos and program double and exponential deflections in the right size is essential for flying acrobatics - classic precision and extreme 3D.

A fast and very powerful servo in a standard size will do – e.g. Futaba S9177SV, MKS HV777A+, Hitec Hitec HS-7950TH, D980TW or HSB-9381TH and one standard throttle servo.
