The M4 Sherman (official designation of the US Army Medium Tank, M4) was the most famous American tank in and shortly after World War II. It was named by the British troops after the American General Sherman. With nearly fifty thousand produced, it was the second most numerous tank of the war, surpassed only by the Russian T-34. In addition to deployment in the US armed forces, it was supplied to other powers resisting Germany as part of a lend-lease program: More than a third of all Shermans produced went to the British Army, four thousand to the Soviet Union. At the time of the first battles, the Sherman was better armed and armored than any German tank, against the most widespread machines Panzerkampfwagen IV and Sturmgeschütz III it remained effective until the end of the war, but it could not measure up to the heaviest tanks of the enemy.

The Sherman was based on the earlier American M3 tank, but unlike its predecessor, it carried a 75 mm gun in the turret, not in the hull. The first prototype was completed on September 2, 1941 and still retained the side hatch from the M3 tank, which was removed for mass production. The final design model of the T6 became standardized as the M4 and production began in October 1941.

During the war, the M4 tank underwent several changes. Some models replaced the original 75 mm M3 cannon with a 105 mm howitzer, later machines were often armed with a 76 mm M1 cannon, tanks of British units were sometimes equipped with a powerful Ordnance QF 17 pounder anti-tank gun under the name Sherman Firefly. In addition to the standard variants, a small number of special versions were also produced, for example the amphibious Sherman DD, which was used during the Normandy landings, the T34 Calliope missile carrier or the version with a device for destroying minefields.

Shermans remained in the American arsenal long after the Second World War, the M4A3 model was deployed in the Korean War, where it complemented the heavier M26 Pershing tanks and the more modern M46 Patton machines. They had an even longer life in the armies of other countries, for example the Israel Defense Forces used improved variants of the M51 Sherman in the Six Day War in 1967 and remained in their service until the 1980s.

The Shermans made their combat debut at the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942, where they performed well against German and Italian tanks. As the most numerous American tank fought on all fronts of the war, it saw important deployment in the liberation of France and Benelux and in the Battle of the Bulge.

M4 tanks were used by the American and Soviet armies during the liberation of Czechoslovakia in 1945. Pilsen is one of the most famous cities liberated by M4 tanks. The Red Army used M4 tanks, for example, during the liberation of Brno. In 2015, there were three examples of the M4 Sherman tank in the Czech Republic. One is exhibited in the grounds of the Pilsen Zoo, the other two in the Lešany Military Museum.

True to detail in 1:16 scale

With a weight of around five kilograms , the M4A3 Sherman 75mm is ideal for the demanding customer. The professional edition features superior airbrush paint quality, 2.4GHz PCB technology and a new speaker. This model has excellent driving characteristics, a wide range of functions and realistic sound. High-quality tracks, drive and guide wheels with rollers, as well as the lower part of the hull and the battle tower are made of metal. Many small parts and various stickers perfectly complete the scale replica.

    Controls and functions

The powerful tank model has 2.4GHz RC control. The vehicle is equipped with the BB Airosft system, so that battles like in real combat are possible. Torque optimized motors give the Sherman 75mm a precise and smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and improved gearing ensure more power. Thanks to the proportional control, you can approach the tank very slowly and smoothly increase the speed. The Sherman 75mm moves forward and backward, also turning left and right. It can also be turned left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the cannon and rotate the turret 360 degrees. Various engine sounds and exhaust smoke complete the realistic experience.
