The development of the Leopard 2 dates back to 1970, right after the failure of the MBT70/KPZ70 project between the US and West Germany. The goal was a modern and mobile main battle tank, which was to replace the Leopard 1 in the long term. Over the years, the Leopard 2 has repeatedly undergone modernization programs to increase its combat effectiveness and protection. In the Leopard 2A6, the weapon system was improved and the 120 mm smoothbore gun Rheinmetall L/55 was introduced, which represents a further development of the previous L/44. The Leopard 2 is successfully used not only in the German armed forces, but also in other NATO countries.

Controls and functions

The powerful package has 2.4 GHz control. The vehicle is equipped with an IR Battlesystem, so battles with vehicles from the same series are possible. The torque-optimized engines give the Leopard 2A6 a precise and smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and improved gearing ensure more power. Proportional control allows a very slow start of the tank and a smooth increase in speed. The Leopard 2A6 drives forward and backward with left and right turns. You can also turn around to the left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the cannon and rotate the turret 360 degrees. Various engine sounds, barrel recoil, muzzle flash and muffler smoke complete the realistic experience.
